Was apparently a good turnout for the Eagles at Newcastle in the wet in Rd 6. -- Any guesstimate?

Its only a small sample, not sure about the later rounds but overall crowds down around 15-20% from 2014..

A large reason is the Melbourne Rising, they were averaging over 2,000 in 2014, since moving their games to the suburban grounds the crowds dropped to 500-750. Perth Spirit crowds were also down from 2,000 to around 1,200.

Rays, Eagles, City and Stars all maintained similar levels from 2014, QLD Country, Vikings and Rams looked to have improved marginally.

I actually suspect the Rams crowds have been a bit poor, but that's only going on estimates not official figures. (The Rams are a "must have" IMO for the NRC. The GWS area has to be in it).

The final collection (just one game missing if anyone from Canberra has an estimate):

Rd 6
NSW v QLC: ~800
NHR v UCV: 3,000
PER v MEL: 1,000 to 1,200
SYD v GSR: 800
Rd 7
GSR v NHR: ~400
UCV v MEL: ?
SYD v BRI: : ~400
PER v NSW: ~600
Rd 8
MEL v NSW: 500
UCV v BRI: 2,175
NHR v QLC: ~800
GSR v PER: ~300
Rd 9
QLC v UCV: 1,151
NSW v NHR: 1,200
BRI v GSR: 2,250
MEL v SYD 1,140

Round 7 seems to have taken a big RWC hit, but things seemed to recover for Round 9.

Are the attendance figures for the UCV semi final official? I was there, and my estimation was closer to 2500. I have been pretty close with my guesses in other games.

Pretty much anything that ends in 00 will be unofficial (but still supplied by someone who was there).

"Upwards of 1500" I think was the call on it, so it could be a bit more.

BR, did you go to the earlier UCV v Rising game in Rd 7 - and if so, what was the crowd like?

-- Usually when there's a good crowd, a club will tend report it. But you won't hear much of turnouts in the low hundreds. Funny that ...

Sorry - was in the USof A at that time. Very disappointed that my Foxsports subscription didn't work while I was there.

There was a huge crowd at the Vikings/Eagles game just before it commenced, thanks to a series of Schoolboy finals taking place at the same ground. With two fields in operation, must have been upwards of 10,000 at the ground judging by the numbers of vehicles that had parked out the surrounding suburb as well as the ground car park itself.

My guess, though, of the numbers who stayed on for the match would have been more like 2000 - 3000, still not bad. Such a pity that all the players and supporters of the earlier games didn't stay around.

EDIT : Or maybe not a pity given the thrashing the Vikings sustained at the hands of the Eagles.

I wonder how many going to schoolboy finals even would have known about NRC game.

As seriously you almost have to come across about it by accident as main stream press not even mentioning anything about NRC and see nothing advertised even on foxsports.

I would be very surprised if even one person attending these finals matches wasn't aware of the NRC game to follow. The whole weekend seemed to be put on as a package.

The Rams have the Girls 7's grand finals at concord on Saturday, so hopefully a decent crowd turns up, 7's semis start at 8.45 with the Rams Spirit game is on at 1 with the 7's finals after.
Smart - attending Saturday's game so yes hope a decent crowd which should be as Fiji 7's player and other Fijian Albert I think playing this weekend for the Rams
