To be honest i think Tom Wilson will play for SJRU in the championships with this draft system as NSW will probably pick Talakai one of the 2 will be shifted leaving Hooker wide open, Jackson Fitzpatrick to start - Hamish to reserve.

How does the drafting system work, team is announced tomorrow and same with Sydney juniors..final squads?

seeing that there is another team, im not overly surprised.

this means that tom wilson (barker/gordon), jack dempsey (view/gordon) and alex vlahos (newington/gordon) must all be in nsw schools side. hopefully announced soon.

GPS 17/23 Players selected - complete nonsence, can't believe CAS 1,3,6,7,10,15 were left out of the squad ! Obviously this Draft system has evened up both but i believe NSW Schools havn't taken advantage of their 'First choice' which could see them have a tough fight against SJRU.

NSW Schools Best 15.

i would have freeman from riverview as the starting halfback in the nsw schools team over the kid from kings. out of those players from cas who missed out, i only think that 15 was a surprise omission.

Mate the tight 5 forwards from CAS were the best on both days shown in selection 1. Morsello being the only one left out in both sides, 7. Jack Johnson played well throughout the tournament, 10. Will Patterson great vision / boot, 15. Henry Cluiness-Ross probably the most suprising omission.

I assume Clint Gutherson is the same that played in last night's under 16 state of origin:

NSW 24 (Tyrone Phillips, Joshua Walker, Kelepi Tanginoa, Robbie Kamoto tries; Clinton Gutherson 4 goals) def QUEENSLAND 14 (Anthony Milford 2, Jordan Dulay tries; Scott Doyle goal) at ANZ Stadium

Coming to terms with Selections

Hmm, Sorry gents but you have to come to terms with successful selection strategy that see NSW enter two very competitive teams in the National Tournament.

In 2009 U/16 NSW Schools team had a new Coaching and Management team (same guys on deck in 2010) who had at their disposal a wealth of talented backs and an uncompromising forward pack that belted both Queensland teams to lift the shield.
The selectors got it right from the 2009 trials and really the only player who was worthy enough of to wear the coverted sky blue but was dudded by being Sydney Juniors first pick was Cam Clark (Gordon and Knox).

50% of the 2009 boys were what to many in club land were unknowns from GPS schools (many of them boarders) who are obviously skilled and hardened to the quality standard but dont have the opportunity to play club rugby.

The 2010 U/16 NSW Schools team will again be well prepared and will hopefully retain the shield.

He certainly had a cracking tournament. A pity that he got injured early in the Open Championships last week, but at least he will have another shot next year.

A looking froward to seeing players like him and Crook from Qld playing senior rugby to see how they convert schools form to the senior arena. Wouldn't be surprised to see either, or both, playing Oz 7s in the next 2 years.

This is the first time I have come across this site and i have seen a couple of comments about a James Blackwell. His name is actually James BlackWOOD and he played for CCC at the schools trials and the Barbarians at the club regionals. I guess the teachers just spelt his name incorrectly.
