Full time at Stanmore. Newington 42 def Kings 30

I have followed Newington Rugby for over 40 years and I must admit, this is the most unpredictable 1st XV the school has ever produced. Today it is a win all New supporters should be proud of considering the position on the ladder TKS were in. SomeTKS supporters may claim injuries to their 1st, but for me its a win to a Newington side that will enter the annuals of the school's sporting history, particularly its Rugby History.

Again, I ask once again a big please to Quick Hands for the results of other teams and again my deep thanks for any responses given.

Oh yes, did the New backs put TKS to the sword. If they played as well as they did against Joeys, TKS supporters should take comfort that this backlines has the capacity to be something special on their day. Particularly, the fullback Weeks.

Just spoke with my son. Amazing finish from the best game he has ever seen. Joeys just stuck with them and never gave in. Congratulations to all who played. Scots players were gracious in defeat. The late win was also aa possibility too. Happy to been wromng on the result. Congratulations as well to the Scots media who made even the SFS look ordinary with their camera coverage. Amazing stuff lads. It was a pity for the back to Scots day that not one Scots team won the Main Oval. Anyway, weather was lovely and champagne was chilled. Rugby was the winner.

It seems the Joeys coach may have read my pre-match summary as the tactics were kick early to create space and doubt then exploit. The late win was also aa possibility too. Outstanding. What a wonderful result for the school. Sounds like a great day. The comp is now a three horse race with Joeys, Kings and ...gasp...Scots all having lost one game. Last round will prove interesting.

Joeys must beat View.
Kings and Scots? Damn....after today who knows? Kings on the blood red dust at North Parramatta may be keen to redeem themselves after being beaten by the Dragons of Wyvern.

Wow another amazing game of rugby! Full credit to the joey boys

I picked it too... I should quote myself

Gibbs to have a blinder ... game to be decided In last 2 minutes

Joker ... the death star joke probably wearing a bit thin

Particularly if you look at the dominant results

Joeys don’t want to crush everyone...as no one will want to play them

Kind of ... careful what u wish for

The Newington Dr Jeckyll team showed up today after the Mr Hyde performance last week.

We were treated to some sensational backline play from the Newington backs - finally showing what they are capable of. Defence in the first half was rock solid - Kings could only manage two late penalty goals just on half time, despite dominating possession and territory. The game opened up in the second half as fatigue set in, but Newington led from start to finish and while Kings staged a few mini-comebacks in the second half, they got to within 7 at one point and that was as close as it came.

Seconds was also a great game, with Newington defending heroically for long periods as Kings dominated territory and possession.

16As was all Newington, the boys were obviously up for the challenge of a very good Kings team and were deserved winners.

15As another pleasant surprise.

14s went as per programme.

13As scored a late try to snatch victory in what was apparently also a great game of rugby.

next weeks games will make a interesting viewing with Joeys, Scots and Kings tied with 3 wins and a loss each. For Scots to win the title they need View to beat Joeys while they beat Kings at Parramatta. If View win and Kings win, then Kings take the title. If Joeys win then they will share with whoever wins the Kings / Scots game. I think I have that right. RichE can you confirm??

Brings back the good old days. You know, from 1894-2007

Whoa there Joker. Joeys didn't win their first premiership until 1904, in fact for the first 40 years of AAGPS rugby (1892-1931), premierships went like this:

Kings 13
Grammar 11
Joeys 10
Newington 4
Shore 2
