Note: this list is players who played NSWI/II and Combined States last year only, slotting into possible positions in NSW I.
I have yet to insert any Combined States 2012 Year 11 boys from NSW into the mix. They should also be pencilled in selections for 2013 positions.

EDIT: Combined States 2012 team here. http://austschools.rugbynet.com.au/default.asp?id=194390 Pretty sure that the only veteran for NSW returning is A DeLore, who I think could be #8 or a #9. It fills a gap in the team list if he is a #8.

That's a good base from which to discuss things.

I saw Barker play in Rd. 1 of the CAS v. Knox, and Barker winger Tyson Davis could have claims and so could Harry Jones as a fullback. Amongst other things: he has a huge punt to use for exits.

Apparently Scots are playing A. Kellaway at 10 so he can get his hands on the ball more; that could confuse the mix.

From U/16s last year no.8 Angus Crichton (Scots), 13. Henry Hutchinson (View) and 14. Joey Fittock (Alstonville) will have their hands up also.

Thanks - it makes sense for the Alstonville lads to gravitate over the Tweed River: Jake McIntyre does his National Academy stuff in the Red zone.

Agree: it's probably his best position.

Like a lot of elite schools players, he plays beyond his years. This doesn't guarantee success as a senior player because others catch up in rugby maturity a year or three after leaving school, but his prospects are open-ended at the minute.

If he looks like a schoolboy Matt Burke, so does Harry Jones look like a schoolboy Ben Tune — but we have to qualify that by saying we have seen many schoolboy stars not advance their school promise afterwards.

But at the minute we can watch them and hope some hope.

And no, I don't think those those remarks would place too much pressure on them. In their last year of school it is fair enough to speculate on the future of such players; the interest they would have attracted already from both sides of the rugby code would make such comments small stuff to them.

I was at Coffs Harbour for the CHS trials and the ground was underwater which was a shame as the standard was much stronger than the past 3 or 4 years and CHS could do well this year.

^^^ Do you think the NZ tour earlier in the year contributed to the standard of play? IIRC they came away with only one loss to the 3rd best team in NZ (otago BHS). That is a feat to be celebrated. I note that there were a few in the CHS Opens that didn't tour.

Alternately, is this simply a particularly strong cohort from CHS?

CHS rugby are the drought busters. Apparently washed out yesterday.

After their experience at Coffs Harbour, and yesterday, the Government and Department of Primary Industries are looking at scheduling all future CHS games in drought affected areas.

Excellence in Water Polo will soon be a criteria for selection in CHS rep teams.

Things are heating up.

We have had the following announcements:
CAS I and CAS II teams
CCC team
ISA I and ISA II team (a couple of positions to be finalised)
CHS (Squad only, no I's and II's team breakdown)

The Sgt Shutlz List (I know nothing)
No names for AICES Squad (A list should be somewhere because the Team was due to play CHS II last Sunday - prior to washout)
GPS I, II and III to be announced soon.
NSW Country Schools Trials this weekend in Armidale. Assume the squad will be announced early next week.

Hosea Fotakuva (view) and Max Cook (Augustines) were both drafted into combined states last year as replacement hookers,. Will Davies (kings centre) also played nsw 2 last year I think

Changes: Currie was apparently selected last year as an 8 but was injured. He has been selected as 12 by ISA this year.
Fotukava and Cook were drafted into Combined States as late entrants.
Davies apparently a late entry in NSW II.
DeLore has been listed as a 10 for CHS I this year.

This is a team selection that is based solely on who was a NSW or Combined States player last year.

(I don't have Tues June 18 details)

18 June - Knox (Main Ground)

CAS II v. GPS II 4 pm
CAS I v. GPS I 5.45 pm

Friday 21 June
Knox Grammar (Curagul fields)

GPS II V CHS II 2PM
CAS I V ISA I 3.10PM
CHS I V GPS I 4.20PM

Do they have lights at Curagul like the main Knox ground now? I may be having a senior moment but I haven't noticed them before.

Last year the above games started at 1.15 pm, 2.25 pm and 3.35 pm, because the sun went down that day.
