I agree that the MNZ and Barbarians teams are close but think the MNZ team is stronger.

Also agree with 16 Schools having a slicker backline if Hutchison, McGregor, Porter, Kennewell, Sepesa trial plus a few others who don't play club. Will these boys however trial for GPS Opens instead or trial for both?

Any thoughts on the 16s teams from anyone with a clue?

That little prerequisite could effectively rule out one organisation from commenting on these threads.

They give every impression of being entirely clueless.

It will be interesting to see the GPS 16s selection this year, as they have some very good talents running around at the moment.

Anyone care to put up a strawman GPS 1 List?

The U16 Schools Competition rules haven't been published on the website yet. Anyone confirm who Presidents B will be. Presumably this will be GPS 2's.

In no order and both Presidents 1 and 2 but here is a list of 24 names; bit of a disadvantage as I don't know all boys from GPS especially Kings and Scots (and New) but a few extra names would definitely be included. Don't know whether boys playing Opens would trial for 16s?

Guessed a few positions:

Finnane - J - 1,8
Girdler - Scots 8
Porter- Scots - GPS 10,15?
McGregor - View - GPS? 10
Hutchison - View - GPS 12,13
Hurley - View 15, 11, 14
Horton - J 2
Simpson - J 7,8,6
Leaver - J 4,5
Kennewell - New - GPS 15?
Sepesa - New - GPS? 11,14
Clifford - New 8
Travers - J 9
Psaltis - J 12,13
England - Scots 10,12,13?
Hawkins - Scots 12,13,15?
Cameron King - Kings 8?
Allen - Shore 14,11
Hollebon - Shore 1, 3
King - Joeys 15
Streeter-Mason - J 12,13,14,11
Grant - Joeys 11,14
O'Connell - Joeys 4,5
Marcus Small - J 1,3?

A lot of these boys are in Sydney regional teams. I expect 60+ boys would trial? Please feel free to add missing names.

Agree gps 16s potentially very strong. There are some boys playing opens like sepesa, kennewell at new and Hutchinson, mcgregor at view. Scots have some good new lads. Joeys a very strong 16 side. 10 will be tough pick I'd go for dan England at scots over mcgregor and behind them tom wright at joeys. I don't see a stand out 9. Dylan Grant at joeys should grab a wing spot, plays good hard footy and I'm told fastest boy in the whole school, hutch, mcgregor, sepesa, Kennewell, porter from scots and Eddie King from joeys will all stake claims in the backs. depends on whether some of the boys get chosen in opens doubt any would play 1s or 2s but some could sneak a 3s spot.

apparently Isaac Meincke & Jackson Scott are both trialling for GPS 16's and they are in the 15's age group this year, quiet amazing, does anybody know there positions by any chance???

THis is extrmely unlikely, although they are both good players

Absolutely no chance. This years 16s are extraordinarily talented those boys as good as they may be are way out of their depth. There are some very strong 16s who won't make it let alone young boys. In any case I've never been a fan of boys playing above their age it is an ego trip. Football doesn't matter until senior opens being good at 15 or even 16 means nothing take a look when they're 18.

Pretty good side, although it is hard to see England getting the nod over McGregor..great player, but McGregor has had the run of it from last years Sydney and NSW sides, in the NGS and playing 1st XV at View, and playing very well from all reports..Travers probs best option, but Heaton from Kings wont be far away..and Hurley was NSW winger last year..also dont count out Jake Richards as being in the mix...

Would gladly swap Travers for Heaton travers was a 'soft' selection anyway. England also played nsw and I think is a tougher proposition and more dominating presence than mcgregor. He certainly out pointed mcgregor when warringah beat Gordon at state champs in 2012 but hey it is a toss of the coin. Hurley though I could not find room for he is a very limited player I've seen him out pointed by guys like sepesa and grant time and again. sepesa is strong and elusive grant is an absolute flyer (im told he has been under 11 secs for 100m) and nsw rugby league rep. I wouldn't trade either of those boys for Hurley.

Looks good but I'd like to see Eddie king in the starting 15 somewhere I'd have finnane before girdler probably mcgregor ahead of England but they are spoiled for choice

Maybe your right, but the one time that anyone would genuinely think that England played better was in an absolute bog behind a huge pack going forward..any conditions that don't require a snorkel to play in McGregor has been head and shoulders..one of my scouts in QLD tells me McGregor ripped QLD apart and England got time off the bench in the centres..but you might be right..seems most selectors have seen it differently... Why didnt Grant run for Joeys in the GPS if he is so quick...??
