in scotland there's a reulation that any window above ground floor has to be able to open and double back on itself so you can safely clean the outside of the window from inside. In australia, it's not even a design option - no-one does this style of window. It's not exactly innovative, but I'd wager unless your teacher is a recent immigrant from the highlands you could score some innovation points.
