See the below post about Shute Shield

http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/community/threads/shute-shield-2017.17688/

I'd be keen to see something come out of QLD too. Match reviews etc, at the very least a Round Review.

Anyone keen to take a stab at it? I am happy to edit and publish, just can't do the content.

Can't let the Shute Shield get the jump on QPR.

My first thought was the QRU have Brendan 'Sauce' Hertel, Mahlia Ivory and Jaybor Staunton to cover this?

yep and they do a great job for the QRU.

I'd like to think GAGR could provide coverage too, as we do for tests, Super Rugby, 7s, NRC, Schools.

Not much club though.

The model for this site has always been our writers cover what they want - we've never pushed people to cover particular comps etc. We are an outlet for passionate people with an interest in a particular team, comp etc to share their views.

This is just a shout out to anyone who might be interested to push the QPR barrow to let us know.

Confirmation of the loss of ARU sponsors - Buildcorp, BMW & Lion Nathan.

The article highlights that "Grassroots" or "Club Rugby" is being compromised by other agendas - it is a shame that ARU doesn't value the importance of QPR, Shute Shield & school rugby in the national rugby landscape.

I think the comments made in this article are really concerning as it would appear that the Governance at ARU is a complete ramble.

Really, a national Women's comp! We don't have a proper national men's comp and we want to pour money into a national women's comp? I am so tired of this PC rubbish surrounding women's rugby especially when we can't even get a decent national men's off the ground. The sport is supposedly professional and based on that, which comp would attract the largest crowds? Who can honestly say that they have made a dedicated trip to watch a women's club game in Brisbane?

Think you need to do your homework mate. Ultimately a sponsor who puts money forward can choose what they invest their money into. In this case Buildcorp were adamant for their continued sponsorship the ARU would need to start an NRC for women. That was their terms for throwing investment into the NRC. They got frustrated at the inaction from the ARU and reacted with pulling their sponsorship. Rightly or wrongly nothing PC other than an investor wanting their investment targeted for a specific area of the game, in this case - Women's rugby. Fair enough I say and maybe a case of the ARU thinking it wouldn't happen.

A smattering of Reds back, and a Brumby for the Brethren.

IF-L has been picked by the Brumbies to play in their 10s team so not sure if he will be available this weekend, despite being named. Likely to miss a couple of games at least.

the program this week promotes CK as playing for GPS.

I think a far few of the regular starters are away on break, but I'd like to think they will be back for a hit out next weekend?

Not sure why Magnay isn't playing. Still troubled by concussion perhaps?

UQ look like they'll run away with the minor premiership.

The other 3 spots. It's all fair game. GPS are trending to one of the position but there's 3 spots open with 5 to 6 teams competing for those playoff births.

The Tigers were clinical today out of the gate. Well deserved taking the Paul Mooney cup back to tigerland.

Souths were impressive today.... levi aumua is an absolute beast - surely a super rugby team has to come knocking...

I remember Levi playing for our 1st grade team back in 2013 before he went to the uk... lining up at no.8, he would play 20 mins, set up/score a few tries before coming of for a rest. He Is a very very hard bloke to tackle.

Levi Aumua had a great game yesterday, really stood out, one of the most underated players of QPR IMO, Souths are travelling under the radar expect to see them in the finals

It was a great day for the Bulldogs apart from that last result. Hopefully the Prems can rally back into finals calculations after a tough few tough weeks.

We dropped too much ball (particularly in the first half) and you can't give a side like Easts that much ball & territory without paying for it. In the second half we tried but again Easts defence was too good. Rodda & Gunn were very good for Easts in defence.

Great day down at Yoku with all sides having a win which was a fantastic result for the club. Really disappointing to hear the news of the break in that night though with has put a dampener to the weekend.
Looks like Levi ran a bit of a master class for Souths in hard straight running on the weekend in their win over Norths. Quality player shame we lost him. Norths are probably done now for the year and a loss to Bond this weekend will be the final nail in the Eagle 2017 coffin.

Nev Cottrell (35)
Leave Norths alone - we need them to bring off a few upsets before the season's end just to make things even more interesting for that 4th spot which will go down to the wire.

As for the top 4 - I think Uni, GPS & Snbk have probably done enough provide that they don't have a very bad run of injuries that leaves Easts, Wests, Souths & Brothers all hunting for that 4th spot. Easts & Souths are coming on nicely whereas Wests & Brothers have failed to secure recent wins granted Brothers have had Uni & GPS over the last couple of weeks which will help them as they don't have to face them again until finals.

Interesting on the Livestream to see Brothers go to uncontested scrums in Prems on the weekend, claiming they were out of front rowers. You would think in Prems that this should never happen given you have to have three front rowers on the bench, although the Brothers scrum was still getting dominated by a seven man GPS scrum once Freney had received a red card so it turned out pretty well for Brothers to go down that track. Surely the competition rules need fixing in this area if they don't already address it properly. Rachel Horton certainly had some difficulty getting a ruling from the sideline referee support on what to do.
