I already said earlier that we didn't do enough to win it - obviously the Reds were better on the night.
I will say this though....I think the draw has been kind to them. Not playing a NZ team until Week 11 (which they lost BTW to to worst team in the NZ conference) and then getting the Blues and Saders at home.

So the draw has been kind, till last night, to the NZ teams, in that they haven't had to play the Reds until week 11, and not at Suncorp until last night. No need to be sensitive about it, you could still go ok.

But it is what it is and again....I still think the Blues will be better for it and with some big guns coming back, I'm very optimistic - especially if that's the best of the Red have.

Is this worse team in the NZ conference the same one that went within inches of beating your untouchable Blues just last week?

Don't get me wrong, I think you contribute well to this forum, but I think your passion for your team can blind one of your eyes.....

I was impressed with Pat and Keven in the press conference too, seemed really straight up guys. If they are an indication of the headspace they are in, they could easily go all the way.

Keven always comes across as a genuine and nice bloke. Similar to horwill. I think you need these sort of leaders in your team to keep the egos in check.

Is there a no.8 in better form in Australia than Radike Samo? I know he isn’t a fashionable player, but his work at the breakdown, ability to link with his teammates and defensive output remind me a lot of Kieran Read. Who I rate as the best no.8 in world rugby. Neither player is a traditional bosh-merchant type 8th man, but their allround skillset contribute so much to their respective teams. Like Read, Samo also provides another tall option at lineout time. For the Wallabies sake, Robbie Deans could do much worse than reward Samo with a test recall, despite the fact that he is turning 35 in July.

With Palu's ongoing fitness concerns, Samo should deinately be in consideration. I'd love to see him on the Wallaby bench.

4 Sharpe
5 Horwill
6 Higgers
7 Pocock
8 McCalman

Bench
Samo

I agree, but I get the feeling that despite the rhetoric around picking the best guys in each position that Rocky (if fit) will get a free ride into the team...

big IF on that one. i would be unhappy to see him given a free ride considering how well higgers has been playing

Samo should not be on the bench unless it is a five man forward one. He isn't an 80 minute player.

Samo won't even be considered. Age will be his downfall as it was for Van Humphries last year when he was the best performing lock to partner Sharpe.

Anyone catch who the Blues player was (I think it was a forward) when the play was on the western side of the field near half way, in the first half. The player was on the wing about to receive the ball, when he looked up to see Cooper was the only defender in front of him, then the player knocked the ball on. Thought that was pretty funny. Thought Cooper was going to get run over

Didn't Humphries make the squad and play a midweek game? ???

Beau must be getting close to Hodgson's bench spot?

I am as big a fan of Beau as anyone, but he is behind pocock in the starting side and hodgo's versatility would see him ahead for the bench spot.

Beau is too much of a specialist for bench work. imho.

Ruggo, can you explain that in a little bit more detail? I'm in the dark.

I can't remember if he was fit at the begining of the international season but that is when we needed a partner for Sharpe other than regurgitating Mumm and Chisholm. By the time that EOYT came around, they had begun the development of Simmons. I mean the horse had bolted as I think it was a little too late by the time they selected him in the EOYT squad.
