Several years ago the wonderful definition for a ball being out of a ruck was "if a seagull can shit on it, it's out". Time to bring it back.
Your clever description of the conga line maul would see the ball being shat on many times as it passes through extended legs. Opposition players could rush around the ruck and compete for the ball.
