Finals Watch Update:
My understanding is the finals series will be the following format:
Week 1: 1 vs 6, 2 vs 5, 3 vs 4
Week 2: Top Ranked Winner vs Highest Ranked Loser, 2nd Ranked Winner vs 3rd Ranked Winner
Week 3: Grand Final - Winners of Week 2 games.

On that basis then, using the round 15 ladder we have:
Manly vs Sydney University, Eastwood vs Randwick, and Southern Districts vs Warringah in Week 1 of the Finals.

The Run home:
Manly - Currently 65 points. Warringah (A), Gordon (A), Randwick (H) - Should win all 3 and take 2 4T BP to finish on 79 points
Eastwood - Currently 64 points. Eastern Suburbs (H), Randwick (A), Warringah (H) - Should win 2/3 and take 3 4T BP to finish on 75 points
Warringah - Currently 51 points. Manly (H), Sydney University (H), Eastwood (H) - Could lose all 3 and take 1 4T BP with 1 <7 point loss BP to finish on 53
Southern Districts - Currently 51 points. Randwick (A), Penrith (H), West Harbour (A) - Should win all 3 and take 3 4T BP to finish on 66 points
Randwick - Currently 48 points, Southern Districts (A), Eastwood (H), Manly (H) - Could lose all 3 and take 2 4T BP with 1 <7 point loss BP to finish on 51 points
Sydney University - Currently 43 points. Gordon (H), Warringah (A), Northern Suburbs (H) - Should win 2/3 and take 2 4T BP to finish on 53 points
Northern Suburbs - Currently 40 points. West Harbour (H), Eastern Suburbs (H), Sydney University (A) - Should win 2/3 and take 2 4T BP to finish on 52 points

Not too many easy fixtures above in their respective runs home, and we may see the impact of the Super Rugby Paratroopers particularly for Randwick and Sydney University, and also the departure of those selected for other nations for their RWC build ups.

Manly and Eastwood seem to have the top two slots booked, with Southern Districts highly likely to take the 3rd position. It's anyones guess what the order of the next three will be.

50+ points seems to be the cut off for the top six. To get there or close, these folk need to win 3/3 with 4T BPs in each game.
Gordon on 36 points are probably out of the running for a top 6 finish given that they face: Sydney University (A), Manly (H), Penrith (A)
West Harbour on 34 points are probably out of the running for a top 6 finish given that they face: Northern Suburbs (H), Parramatta (A), Southern Districts (H).

The Jarseometer prediction for Finals week 1 is:
Manly vs Northern Suburbs, Eastwood vs Warringah, Southern Districts vs Sydney University.

Paddy Ryan and Tom Carter back for Uni

Not many Tahs players selected this week by the look of it and infact a few that played last week gone?

Southos ;) vs Wicks this weekend is the key to finals order I reckon - no Volavola means it will be close
There has been a bit of negativity surrounding the SS but some of these teams play really good rugby and the finals should all be cracking games.

5/6 again last week, and got close with the 6th game.

Round 16 Tips
Eastwood v Eastern Suburbs. Woodies by 20+. Can't see the Beasties doing what they did last year.

Northern Suburbs v West Harbour. The Shoremen need to win this comfortably if they want to have a decent go at being in the final six. Pirates just haven't been able to consistently keep their foot on the throat of their opponents to steal the chocolates regularly. Shoremen by 7-12.

Parramatta v Penrith. The M2B have had a tough year being on the wrong side of too many close tussles. The battle of the West won't be close, but it will be a tussle. M2B by lots.

Randwick v Southern Districts. Randi-Wix opponent will miss VolvoVolvo's guiding hand while he is away on Fiji duties but they still should have too much firepower to withstand the young Gallopers backline and win by 10-18.

Sydney University v Gordon. With some of their Pro paratroopers back from Super Rugby duties, The Corporation are a different beast to the mob that were beaten under lights at Chatswood Oval in the deferred game. The Corporation by 10-20.

Warringah v Manly. Rightly the televised match, and it should be a cracker. Rats have a very tough run in to the finals and this is their time to make a statement that they are a genuine Grand Finalist. It will be close for a while but the MMM should prevail by 10-15.

The Wicks have an opposed session against Argentina at Latham tomorrow night. Not sure of the wisdom of that a few weeks out from the finals. Don't be surprised if there's a few withdrawals from the named team for Saturday.

There was no contact session or opposed scrums. They just trained there and some of it was combined with the Wicks 1st XV. Lots of people there to watch including a heap of great looking Argentinian ladies!

The Qantas Australian Men's Sevens program today announced Paul Asquith and Alex Gibbon have been released from their contracts at their own request.

Both players will be available to represent Southern Districts for the remainder of the 2015 Intrust Shute Shield season.

Qantas Australian Men's Sevens Head Coach Geraint John said: "Alex [Gibbon] and Paul [Asquith] have decided to go back to their clubs and play XVs Rugby which I have supported. Both were excellent individuals and people and I wish them the very best playing regularly for their club and hopefully NRC later in the year. It was good to see them playing for Southern Districts against Sydney University in the Shute Shield and have a chat with them post-game.

Manly up 24-3 with 10 to go till half time. Rats look ok with the ball, but turnovers are killing them. Manly look too skillful and too quick with ball in hand.

Rats in just before half time, 24-10 to Manly. Manly need to make sure that they don't let Warringah back into this. Early points have kept the crowd quiet, expect an all out Rats onslaught after half time. Manly need to sort out basic mistakes, we've kicked out on the full twice from kick-offs.
