Apart from the Reds cards (Which looked like the linesman only saw the parra players hit back and not the rats player hit first), Parra were brilliant.

Their defence was sensational and, with 12 players, they looked more likely to win, and they should have. They missed 2 pens to win the game and rats went and scored a pen to take it home. But parra, i have to say - hats off to you. And if you're a rats coach, you'd be fuming with that performance.

Rats won the game so well done, but boy oh boy, they didnt look like they wanted it.

Parra are close to taking some wins.

For a Uni supporter you seem to be commenting on Parra a lot.

It's only a pity if you are of the opinion that "the other teams" don't deserve some exposure on T.V. After 4 rounds Eastwood have already appeared on 3,Uni. on 2, & one each to Randwick,Easts & Norths.
Obviously as the season progresses it's highly likely that the more successful teams will appear more often ,& the less successful less often if at all.There will almost always be more than one attractive game each week,but don't you think Penrith & to lesser extent West Harbour, should be on in the early part of the season when they are not too far behind the leaders,& if not when do you think they should be on, or should we see the same predictable group of teams every week ?

And a number of NSWRU/SRU people have emailed me the tv games list. So I've seen the tv match schedule up to and including Round 10. I don't have an issue with the lower ranked sides getting tv games. Not one bit. According to the schedule, the only club that won't get a tv game (either home or away) in the first 10 rounds is Parra.

Looks like CRTV don't want to travel any further west than Concord again. For the 2nd year running.

I challenge Mr Pulver or anyone from the ARU to head to a local rugby field this Saturday and ask that very question. I’d be astounded if they got the same answer.

Oh and don’t worry, someone will be there. Setting up from 7am and packing up well after it goes dark. ​

Does the ARU really think that all those families play and support rugby just to make sure the Wallabies are going well?????

Might still happen - I've been told Saley use to travel across from Randwick and even help with the set up for the Manly v Wicks games and get the BBQ cranking early as well.

There is a misunderstanding here, I think. All the respondents who put the success of the Wallabies first were almost certainly of the belief that a successful Wallabies team generates more interest and more revenue (in both the short and long term) for our game than any other single factor.


That does not mean that very many other factors are not very important. But it does mean that Wallabies success will help all levels of the game.

Round 5 tips
Eastern Suburbs v Parramatta. You have to rate the Beasties at Jimmys Vineyard. Cards aside, the M2B did well to keep it tight last weekend and could surprise as the Beasties can be a little Jeckyl and Hyde. This is the Year of The West, so I'm for the M2B to open their account with a solid away W by less than 5.

Gordon v Warringah. They've lost a Holmes and a Holmes is out of position. Harry Jones will boot the Rats holme again. Rats by 7

Manly v Penrith. The MMM will be spewing after they lost their 2000th game at home to The Waratahs EPS. The Emus will feel the brunt of their wrath as the MMM have a full contact opposed practice run. A lonely meat pie to the Emus just after half time. MMM by >50

Randwick v Eastwood. Match of the Round. What ^%&*king horse race? Show the footy Channel 7. In a Top of the Table Clash with both sides having key players away, this game will be tougher to pick than Yao Ming's nose. Without Jai Ayoub, you'd have to think the scales are tilted slightly in favour of the Wix. The losing team will come away with a losing BP. Expect the find of the season, Adam Freier to get two tight heads when he comes on off the bench. The Wix will score from one of them.

Southern Districts v Northern Suburbs. The Hobbits will be disappointed that they couldn't perform as tipped last week when they went down in a close one to the Beasties and in doing so exposed yours truly to some very beastly boastful brash bully boy bravado from the Beastie Faithful. C'mon Hobbits, Don't let me down this week. Shoremen have been playing some pretty good footy this year and will make the Hobbits work really hard for their points. It'll be close and it is time for The 2016 People's Choice to stand up and be counted. Hobbits by 8.

Sydney University v West Harbour. The Pirates surprised the Corporation last year, but with a few of their Waratahs deciding that they like clubland, the Camperdowners at the new birthplace of rugby will be too good and retain the Cutler Shield with a 15-20 point victory. Welcome to Shute Shield for 19 year old 2015 Schoolie Lachlan Swinton. Couldn't get a better introduction to First Grade than packing down in a scrum next to a Waratah.

Canteen of the Round will be The Rebels Burger with the salad from ForeShore park.
Best Beer will be Nomad Cruising at the Village Green, Only $5 from the keg.

Hmmm...I'd still follow the SS even if the Wallabies were ranked 613 in the world.

Sure I want the Wallabies to do well and I accept that their success helps all levels of the game to some extent, but rugby at the grade / colts level is the people's game. The Wallabies are a business which I have no input to or influence over -- it's controlled by people like Pulver, who voted for him?

The majority of guys running around every week in grade rugby (Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra, Woop Woop) have no aspirations to ever play at a higher level.
