Just going to guess it will be another 33 man squad going to Europe. Still would like to pick Genia, with any other eligible players in euro only being picked as emergency injury cover

Moore Hanson Ready
*(presuming TPN will leave)

Sio Ala'alatoa Kepu Robertson Slipper

Simmons Douglas Arnold Coleman

Fardy Mumm Mccalman Timani Hooper Mcmahon
*(Pocock will probably be with his Jap team & would prefer Holloway over Mumm but can't see it happening this year.)

Genia Phipps Frisby

Quade Foley

Godwin Hodge Kerevi Kuridrani

Folau DHP Speight Naivalu Koroibate
*( Naiyaravoro to be with his Japn team)

That's 32.....33rd man could be T.Smith, Skelton, Holloway or a project 10?

Not sure they'd select Genia utr. He'll probably be unavailable for the Wales and England games, and presumably any non-tests too, given they'll fall outside 3 the mandatory release period.

Would provide Powell and Stirzaker a good opportunity in the NRC to compete for that final spot. Or even someone else.

ah well if they fall outside then they fall outside

People freaking out about Koroibete being rushed into it..guys a weapon but at no stage has it been said he is going on that tour to play! He's going to learn.

They'll have plenty of OBs to choose from without him needing to throw on a jersey

Absolutely the ARU has paid good money to get Koroibete because he is a world class quality winger with a rugby background who can potentially be a Wallaby super star based on his form for the Storm. It would just be stupid if they did not take him to learn so ready for next year and help fast tracking him to Wallaby selection when he shows it is warranted. Taking him on tour does not mean he gets a cap unless shows he is ready and deserves it. With our current range of non specialist slow wingers that would actually not be that hard (to get a cap). We need Koroibete more than Koroibete needs the Wallabies.

Ned Hanigan for the Wallabies - he outplayed Sam Carter easily on the weekend. Out with the old, in with the new.

Stirzaker struggled to make any impact this year

Did specify "in the NRC" ;)

Powell is probably first off the rank behind Phipps and Frisby, but little red is certainly talented enough to be a Wallaby, and with a little bit of form and a little bit of luck, that could be during the Winter tours.

Could see him being groomed to replace Fardy. Same dimensions and style though I'd say Fardy is more a breakdown pest as to Hanigans in your face style

There are some "older" players around the Wallabies who I'd like to see replaced on the EOYT. Specifically, Simmons, Mumm, McCalman, maybe Moore. In their places, I'd go with players like Coleman, Arnold, Staniforth and Hanigan in the second row, and Dempsey and Holloway in the back row.

Other forwards who have earned a tour include Ready and Tom Robertson.

Some new faces in the backs would also be good to see; Naivalu, Kellaway, Powell and maybe Perese spring to mind.

In an injury crisis he should play but it's the fault of the current Australian wingers that can't earn a spot at test level.

You do realise Simmons is 27?

Heard that Simmons has been struggling with the back injury he aggregated in the first test against England.

It's not bad enough to stop playing but not improving either which may not be a good long term sign.

To me, this should be the back line combination the Wallabies should be working towards:

Attack as:
10. Cooper
11. Speight/Naivalu/DHP/Koroibete (I lean towards Sefa when he's available)
12. Kerevi
13. Folau
14. Kuridrani
15. Foley (Remember when he played this role so well?)

Defend as:
10. Speight/Naivalu/DHP/Koroibete
11. Foley
12. Kerevi
13. Kuridrani (so basically he's playing AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)'s current role)
14. Folau
15. Cooper

We can't look at a backline too positionally, we need to look at it as a set of skills that can be shuffled. In this back line we have 2 distributers (perhaps playing left/right) and 4 excellent runners, who run good lines hard.

Would Kuridrani attacking at 14 be ideal? No, but at least he'd always go forward in contact and he's a really excellent defender at 13.

Equally, having two distributors and a threat defending deep would be imposing, we could really get some width before we counter. The classic 'windscreen wipers' counter-attack.

Thoughts?

I agree with the old faces except mumm - he has not done that bad in the wallaby jersey and still very good bench option with his ability to cover 6 and lock. Not ready to retire him yet and I think the critics on here been overly harsh on here about mumm.
