My Dad is in training for a ride round Tasmania to raise money for the Starlight Foundation.
He has been struggling to fit enough riding in due to all the rain in Sydney recently so he has resorted to other training options. This excerpt was from his latest email update that I thought was interesting.
I find it amazing that Scots has a hypoxic chamber. I would have thought that sort of technology would be limited to places like the AIS.

Sydney’s wet summer continued this week, affecting some the usual training days but allowed a few new experiences. Monday saw a couple of the other TdKers and I, in The Scots College gym hypoxic chamber. The room has the facility of altering the usual 21% oxygen at sea level to lower levels by pumping in more nitrogen. In our case it was set at 15% oxygen to give an effective altitude of 2850m. We pedaled stationary bikes for about 45 mins. It was quite a workout! The school can put rowing machines, spin bikes or treadmills into this room for training different athletes – As an old boy I am demanding an improvement in their sporting results!!
