Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

The Honey Badger

Jim Lenehan (48)
Gee that's some stiff competition, he was playing NRC last year when a lot of the other u20s were still playing Colts. Can't say the selectors have got it wrong though as Latu at 13 has been excellent.
Ikitau hasn't been too shabby either.

I wouldn't mind seeing Latu and Ikitau in the centres.

Plenty of selection headaches. Lucas should be there somewhere as well.

Includes link to the story about the new u19 champs in September / October which will then be used to pick initial squads for under 20s camps and move to a timing which should be far better for having a competitive team at the World Cup each June.

Pretty sure it would only be for 1st year colts, or a year young second year colt. This best boys still at school would be playing School boys.

Unless they are talking about boys who don't make schoolboys being eligible.

You'd think that there wouldn't be any schoolboys playing in this. The best few Aussie schoolboys who might have a chance of making the Under 20 RWC squad the year out of school could have a chance to be included in a camp etc. based on their showing in the schoolboy games.

This comp will be for anyone who doesn't turn 20 before 1 January of the following year (i.e. eligible for the under 20 RWC).

Any 19 year old boys still at school would be eligible. Pretty sure they would be involved in colts anyway, would be ineligible for any School rugby.

When's the Australia v NZ match? So far all I've seen of this company (& believe me I've been looking) is ~30 seconds of NZ v Fiji on The Crowd Goes Wild which for the uninitiated ain't exactly mainstream TV here in NZ. I just don't understand why no-one over here is giving it any coverage, last Fairfax piece was a preview of NZ v Fiji & there's been no post-match at all. As I said a page or do back, it's pretty shit really. Thank God for G&GR-ers like HGNelson & The Honey Badger, I say.

Big pack with Ha'angana at 6!

I reckon this is a really strong side. Possibly our best in a few years. Hopefully they can put it together on Saturday night.

10 minutes in, 7-0 to Aus after an intercept try to McTaggert. Australia looking pretty good so far.
