Getting rid of the Academies.......has to be with the poor skill levels demonstrated for our professional rugby sides in recent years....compared with the success that countries like England had with their Academy systems.

What other mistakes have been made?

Rushing in in 1996 (there was a need with the World Rugby Corp a looming reality) and not establishing a long term sustainable plan covering all the aspects of the game from a growth pathway for players and coaches to referees.

Then to compound that error they missed multiple opportunities to reform and get such a system in place and IMHO they will miss this one as well.

No full commitment to a national game with equal opportunity for teams beyond Sydney or Brisbane.

Choosing Perth over Melbourne in 2004.

Expanding to 18 teams.
