There's no doubt that was a dismal performance against the Lions. It's one game though. How they bounce back against the Blues this weekend will be telling in terms of the overall season.

After 8 games in 2014 we had the same number of wins with one more loss.

It seems clear that as this point the preferred backup 10 is Beale or Hegarty. Presumably Mason comes into the frame if one of Foley, Beale and Hegarty gets injured. I don't really understand the desperation to bring him in now. I think it would be different if the thought was that Mason is the starting 10 if Foley goes down but that is not the current thinking.

Eh maybe your right. I think boredom factors in a bit. Seeing new players have a crack is funzo.

To be fair - I don't think this is THAT bad. Obviously not a good look, but it seems that he was just uber-pissed and mistook the bar for the urinal. As in, he literally walked up to the front and starting pee'ing.

I've had friends pee in the corner of their room, in their girlfriends shoes etc. all when uber-drunk and confused. One friend even walked into his old mans room when he was freshly 18 and let rip on his own father.

I've even had friends try to order drinks from the DJ before. It's not great behaviour, but it's not malicious.

Phipps was apologetic when leaving the venue, apologetic in the days following and has since returned for another function.

No one was offended or harmed it seems. Play on.

Yeah it's not like he filmed pissing in his own mouth.. E.g Todd Carney...I do have to ask though what happened to your friend who pissed on his dad..mine would have kicked seven shades of shit out of me and then pissed on me too make the point..

How can you blokes defend this shit?
He and his team mates were flogged 29 - 0.
No doubt because they were all thinking about the fun times ahead.
“The 61-Test halfback was dressed as a cow, the witness said.”
Does anyone who follows this game or plays it give a shit about standards in any area of endeavour?

I guess, I have seen worse

And you do realise public bars used to have a urinal running along the front of the bar

I once walked into my housemates room and started peeing into her handbag. Only after being smacked by both her and my girlfriend did i correct my error by walking out of the room to pee on the banister.

Absolutely stupid from Phipps. An unwanted distraction.

I'd imagine he'll get an official warning from RA and the Waratahs and that will be it. I'd be surprised if they go through a code of conduct hearing.

Either that, or he made that famous bet that he could piss all over the bar and the bartender would laugh.

Where was he for the previous couple of nights?

Otherwise, what people are forgetting is that the bloke was on his buck's party, in a fucking cow costume, and his mates probably got him pissed to within in an inch of his life (as is their responsibility). I think we all know people in our own circles who have publicly embarrassed themselves in a far worse manner on such an occasion.

Yes it was mid season, but as a Wallaby, Phipps only gets a handful of weeks off (properly) a year and it was during a bye week. He's pretty limited as to when he can do this sort of thing, and more optimal weeks for Nick could've been bad timing for his fiance, family or friends.

The last thing that makes me think its not too bad is that it was at the Woolahra Hotel. Nick Phipps is a celebrity there (it shames me that a 60 cap Wallaby isn't a celebrity everywhere) and he is very friendly with the management and patrons. If it had to be anywhere, thank God it was there.

He'll get a small fine and a slap on the wrist. It's deserved, but he also hasn't murdered anyone.

The Woollahra Hotel has released a statement saying they will no longer allow cows into their establishment.
Chickens and other assorted farmyard animals are OK, but not cows.

He is being sanctioned, he is getting married.

Can you imagine that conversation ....... with his future wife, his future mother in law, his mother ....

Hopefully for him his in-laws are not dairy farmers.
