He will probably end up getting 2 weeks for the trip/kick, 3 weeks for the unprovoked punch to a wall but will end up sitting out 6 weeks with a broken hand.

Rumour has it he may well have fractured his hand punching the change room door in frustration.

Can confirm - Bode will out for a couple of weeks with a broken hand. What a clever fellow! Perhaps he's not part of the 'uni student' playing group contingent I previously spoke about. Green grass it's not soccer either! Tripping a players legs out from behind isn't exactly the 'hard man' option when dealing with the opposition...

Tuggies will get Royals this week.

Thanks BJ.

Interesting results- darra kept it close. Were they good or the whites poor?

Not surprised to see Tuggies get up. A very interesting JID for the top 4 and spoon this year!

Apparently Whites had a player red carded - not sure what for.

Vikings only got the lead after 70 mins and scored a try at the death

Be interested to hear if the red card was warranted. Don't think there is much between the top 3 sides this year.

Royals had a total collapse; anyone who saw the first round game knows how close they've come to this before.

What happened? Fitness issues or lack of temperament when under pressure? Young team? What do you put it down to and is it something you see them sorting out before the finals?

A ton of unforced errors don't help: not straight lineout throws, missed breakdown cleanouts, dropped balls, etc. But I won't say its a fitness issue; even in the first game of the season, we played better in the last 20 than we did the first. I hate to go to intangibles, but it feels like a mental strength issue. Every time we take a hit, we take another very quickly after that.

It was a really good game of footy.

Game was very close the whole time. Score was 13 - 14 (Royals way) at about the 60 minute mark then after being held up over the line on 2 occasions Royals were finally able to convert and pulled to a 13 - 21 lead with about 15 to go. Vikings hit back pretty quickly through an Isaac Thompson try and then scored again about 2 minutes later and then a final one at the bell.

I was really surprised to see Royals scrum get pushed around, I don't know if their scrum is poor or Vikings scrum is really good even when Taula was replaced by Mcgrath the Vikings scrum didn't seem to miss a beat.

The usual suspects were top performers for the Vikings. JP Mynhardt was my standout. For Royals Johnston (as always) was good and penders made an impact when he came on at half time.

It's an interesting sub plot for royals. If you recall Vikings did the same thing to them in round one but Royals had built a big enough lead to hold them off. You'll also recall their loss to Easts was at the bell. Not sure what it is but they've shown that they can be vulnerable late in games.

I got to Erindale last weekend for second grade and most of the main game. Gotta say, Tuggies sealed the game late when Thompson came on. Still very handy at that level on his day. They took the win and still have only lost the one match. All in all, second grade wasn’t a bad game.
First grade I was impressed by the bash brothers, Vikings #5 and his twin in #6. Both very fit/strong young men. Tuggies lineout did not function that well, but the scrum was great. It seems Father Time has caught up with Henry, the hooker. He’s lost the ability to hit the long ball. Royals have an excellent 10 and some very handy forwards. Had to go with about 15 mins left but when I arrived at my local I got a text saying Vikings had stormed home to take the win. That’s the first time in a while the Valley Vermin have beaten Royals? Both clubs will be there or there abouts come finals time.

Not able to get to as many games as I'd like this year and I'm very much appreciating the reports being posted. It's good the Canberra Times run a story or two each week but I find the reports on here more insightful. Best JID in years!

There is usually a stream up and about, if the live stream isn't up for your match of choice they are on the BarTV YouTube page the next day

Cheers mate - I've streamed some in the past but have struggled to find the link at times this year. It's usually a pretty good coverage, although I always get caught out looking for a replay after a try or dust up.
