Ok but again they just might be the best. Apparently Joeys have no combinations and can't get a look in (last 2 years).

Have my Joeys goggles on of course!

I think some Joeys players have been overlooked because they play so unselfishly and cohesively as a team.
Harder to stand out in a team based environment.
The Joeys 2nd row who came on in the 1st XV game yesterday had a couple of great charges and acquitted himself well.

I'm a little confused about the Scots and GPS coaching arrangements.
Scots 1sts are coached by Brian Smith and Cameron Blades.
Scots 2nds are coached by E Brenac.
GPS 1sts are coached by Brian Smith, E Brenac, and K Brennan (Scots).

Have I got it right?

Yep.
Cameron Blades is only paid to coach TSC kids by the Scots rugby support group, not anyone else.
Both Smith and Brenac are employed as staff at TSC and hence fall into eligibility to coach GPS teams.

What I find interesting is the playing style of the CAS team who seemed to have play as a team and took it to the highly fancied GPS boys. Smith seems to be only a decent coach when he is handed a team each year that has been indoctrinated for 4 seasons in Blackburn ball. I have found it interesting over the past few years that Scots 16A do not rate highly then magically they transform (physically as well) to this amazing 1st XV team.

Next Games for AAGPS teams are Thursday night 28th June at Boronia Park, Hunters Hill

5.30pm - AAGPS White vs NSWJRU II

6.45pm - AAGPS Blue vs NSWJRU I

Should be some great games as club rugby meets schools rugby.

Smith has been brilliant for the overall rugby program at Scots. Obviously the opens teams have continued to do well, but the changes he's brought in to improve coaching and skills across all age groups and grades has been excellent.

I think with the Scots 16's age group the Glengarry factor is still at play. The boys haven't been together as a year group since 14's, and clearly there are big changes in size and skill levels over that two year time frame, thus the teams rarely look the same and take time to become the cohesive unit that appears in the Opens.

Maybe Smith isn’t the fancied coach he considers himself to be?

Don't know the bloke ... however I don't know if one training session is enough to prove or disprove Brian Smith's super coach credentials?!

GPS sounds like maybe they just ran out of time ... either way I am disappointed that no footage of the game has surfaced

I haven't seen a live game of the Kings star Sualli ... I am curious to know how he compares to Queensland's Ponga? I suspect he might be a chance to make Origin at a similar age, unless the ARU can mount a rescue party

Be curious to know how many of these kids have league contracts already stitched up?

I have never seen Moretti play league ... I wonder if Union doesn't suit him better ... to my knowledge I don't think he made any league Rep teams last year?

what happened to James Roach from Newington? The name just came back to me ... wasn't he one of Newington's pacey backs in the current class of 2018?

from what I have seen in the first few minutes is this.
GPS 6 (Wellington) cannot tackle one on one. This is a a hangover from his league upbringing.
Two misses (bad ones) and two tries. He was also late in cover for the third.
So, why is there such good press about this guy? Number 6's tackle.
Great scrummaging from GPS though

Good report thanks Bolivia.

Credit must go to the CAS coaches Scott Coleman (Waverley) and Andrew Cleverley (Cranbrook) who now have an impressive record against GPS with 2 wins from 2 matches. When was the last time that happened ?

They kept the game plan simple and played to their strengths. In the first half, it looked like GPS thought that all they had to do was turn up to win the match. The result certainly silenced a lot of the GPS critics who believe that the GPS competition is a far superior schoolboy comp.

The CAS boys simply wanted it more and came out with great intent and physicality. A few of the GPS boys were certainly guilty of looking sideways for Moretti and Reimer and co.

I note from the match reports that there were some impressive performances from the GPS 2 players, particularly in the backs. Will be interesting to see if selectors make any changes to the GPS teams for the games on Friday.

Only changes have been made due to injury. Bokenham (J) up into Firsts replacing Brown (K) who sustained a head knock. Foley (N) moves up to 2nds, Cale (K) moves up to Blue and Tiffen (I) moves off the bench into White.

No replacement reserves now 8 was 12. Fair enough too. Reserves didnt get much game time on Tuesday

Being in the middle of GPS rep week, I thought I would have a crack at naming a XV from players named in this year's GPS Opens and Presidents XVs who, to the best of my knowledge, will be returning to their school in 2019. There are a few gaps and I have named 2 players for some spots. I may have got some wrong too. So feel free to add / correct.

Rich_e Shanks-Anderson(J) will finish school this year. I think you mean Nick Jones #1 who was selected in GPS White but was ruled out with injury. On paper will be a hell of a side on what I have seen on the field!
