Got it.

I think the guys returning need to go into a bubble for two weeks. So it they are training with the team they probably wont be available until the rest of the squad is also available.

They might get 1 round in before the finals. I don't know what the eligibility rules are, if there are any at all.

Strange days indeed.

This mindless thuggery has to be stamped out immediately. As posted on this forum earlier, our wonderful game is under enough pressure and scrutiny to allow this crap to continue.

ARU, QRU and Clubs need to send a message TODAY to each and every player, coach, manager and club committee that there is a zero tolerance for this sort of violence.

A Criminal charge has already been brought against one mindless thug in 4th grade in this shortened season. What is it going to take - a one punch death??

NOTICE - Kick them all out TODAY stamped "never to play again".

Totally agree TER! I am concerned that our game can ill afford more black eyes like this when we are struggling to maintain what foothold we hold as a sport amongst the sporting landscape. Given womens rugby numbers are growing too we dont want to do anything that means we drive that support away instead of towards our game

Has Vella been in the Reds squad having never packed down against a senior man in a real game situation? That didn't work for Nasser so why would it work for Vella? he needs to get into club land and toughen up. I am sure he will progress but he needs to learn his trade. Which Smith are you referring to? As far as I know the only Smiths are JP and Ruan who are (were?) GPS.
Harry got called up when the Reds went into their bubble .

Already in the Academy, is on a development contract and would imagine is there as opposition , don’t think they planned on him actually playing .

Agree he would be better served learning his trade in QPR , but he at least has had the experience of training and opposing the big boys. He also looks very fit .

As already mentioned the Smith from Brothers is not one of the twins .

Why would the guys who've been in the reds bubble need to go into another bubble? All the blokes currently playing club rugby aren't in any sort of quarantine situation.

I would imagine there will be Reds squad members filtering back to clubs at training tonight with some available this weekend.

Anyone travelling to Canberra on the weekend will probably be required to isolate. As for the others I just heard there was a bubble coming out as well. It doesn't make any sense but is there anything happening that makes sense?

Not trying to prove you wrong Jeepstragic but just spoke to one of the Reds guys who said they’re all exempt from 2 weeks isolation upon return, along with all the other sports teams travelling into QLD, as per the special government rules. Anyway that’s good news for club rugby.

That is good news and I hope some of those players go back to their clubs, but it just highlights the hypocrisy of governments.

In saying that politics and sport should be separated. i was very happy that Rugby didn't follow other sports and take the knee.

Hey mate does that mean GPS will run four fresh props on the bench and still go uncontested in reserve grade.

I imagine when Thorn or Lillicrap rang the 18yr old and asked him to practice alongside Nella there wasn't much of a pause.

Probably time to move on.

I don't think anyone on these forums really cares about this matter anymore as no one here can really do anything about it. We are all just supporters of our club for the most part, I can't go down and tell them to stop carrying fresh bench. If you're still annoyed go and speak directly to the clubs.

Shit stuff happens every year with rugby teams. Don't bring the vibe of this forum down with constant complaining on the same issue.

EDIT - sorry shouldn't have aimed the whole argument at you and have adjusted my post accordingly - I see you only jumped in on occasion but others were going at it more heavily. My point above stands to everyone who keeps harping on about the issue. It sucks, but we don't need novels written about it.

.

Time to move on... until a club does it the following week and then we can start all our complaining the following Monday.

You might not like the topic but if there’s clubs not playing rugby in the spirit of the game then they should be called out. (Understand GPS infringement happened earlier in the year but they now have the asterisk next to them)

Correct you can call them out - but the continuing conversation around it becomes tiresome. Until the QRU fix these issues or close loopholes there will be teams who do it. I’m totally against it from a personal point of view but I’m not going to bitch and moan about it to every supporter within shouting distance.

For the record most of us GPS supporters who’ve been around the block are very against carrying fresh reserves in club footy. But I’m not going to let it destroy my enjoyment of the game.

Mate just felt like triggering a Jeeps fan.
as I have said in the past 3rd grade and above if you go uncontested play with 14 and have the halfback sit in the backline at scrums. If you make the cost high clubs will focus on training and retention of front rowers.

There was some good karma at Sci-Fleet yesterday.
Didn’t see the game , but Wests did themselves and Brothers a massive favour by knocking over GPS yesterday . Both teams have a game in hand over GPS having already had their bye round.

With Bond hosting UQ and Brothers hosting Easts in the final round it looks like we won’t know the top four and it’s order until the last round is played .

It’s been a very competitive comp so far this year .

Great to see club rugby strong !
