I've got no issues with Hooper assigned captain. He has the most experience and is a guaranteed starter this year.
As good as McReight and Wright are I seriously doubt they will be starting any of the big games this year. Suspect Hoop will get a rest against understrength Arg.

There is no doubt that you have incredible depth. Everywhere but lock forward. The depth in the front and back rows is embarassing. And Plumtree is a great coach. So yes, your pack will take a step up. But let's see if the others can keep up. Next year that is.

Dctarget -- I disagree it kind of awkwardly locks him into Hooper for a while, it'll be tough to justify dumping Hooper as captain if things are going well enough should you know who you want to lead your team at the next World Cup.
And Hooper has always fucked up every back row he's played in -- by not playing like a back rower.
Given you are basically locked into starting Hooper, I think the back row needs to be either Wright, Hooper and Wilson, or Valetini, Hooper and Samu. Wright is the better 6 and possibly the best back row lineout jumper (okay Ned is maybe better at that - but average at everything else), but Samu is likely the better 8.
Wright vs Samu and Wilson vs Valetini. Ultimately, I'd tend to start Wright & Wilson so you can use Samu on the bench as he fills all three back row spots, although Wright is capable of playing 6 & 7 too.
I don't think we can play LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) at 6 -- for the Beld series we aren't getting any internationals, so he's gotta play lock, but regardless we REALLY need to give him a position and have him play that position for a good 12 to 18 months so he can get his body right for playing that role. Maybe we play him at '6' as a part of a bench setup with another lock on the bench so he can come in to play 4/5/6.

Unless Wilson is selected alongside Valetini Harry's always playing tight so 6 or 8 doesn't really matter.
I knew we could rely on Zero_Cool for that sort of take.

Harry Wilson does not play tight. He is rather inept and ineffective at the breakdown and tends to avoid it. When he plays in the backrow the team needs the other two backrowers to play tight. It worked really well this year with McReight and Wright in the Reds. But I have seen Wilson and his type of play exposed in previous years when there is only one backrower working “tight”.
I don’t think Wilson’s style of play compliments Hooper, so would surprise me if both were in the starting side.

I didn't notice too much wrong with his ruck work this season (although, certainly doesn't have the presence of Samu in a defensive ruck) but sounds like you've been watching him for longer and probably have better informed opinions.

Wilson was inspired by Higs. At the moment, he is a chubbier and slower Higs, but also does a larger portion of runs in tight then Higs did.
