New Zealand vs Australia Oct 11 2020 Bledisloe Cup

Wouldn't be surprised if we see the Front Row rotate, and maybe Samu to bench in favour of Wright or Valetini.

Can't see backs changing. To'omua does need to improve his decision making with kicking, but Simone is not a better option at 12 and JOC (James O'Connor) did a great job.

Loving Daugunu. That guy makes running fast look..not so fast. Silky.

It was interesting that when Simmons came on for Wilson, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) went to 8 and Samu went to 6. Strange in the context of the game but maybe some longer term implications for when the 2 OS players join the squad.

I don't want to just pile in on him but I wouldn't even credit Simmons with what you have there. He has never dominated set piece, never carried well and only rarely hits a ruck or tackle. I think he can do all that but he just hasn't ever with any consistency.

I was being nice. I rated him as a 20yo next to Horwill with Phil Mooney coaching, but i said exactly the same thing then - could be good if he wasn't so fucking stupid.

By the end of Link, i'd have been playing Pocock in the row over him.

I really think people were overly critical of White. For the style of 9 that he is, I think he put in a solid performance. His box kicking generally was effective, speed to ruck good, kept the defence guessing around the ruck often making good ad-line and fracturing their defensive structure, was reasonable in defence. Some of his passing could have been better and I'm not sure that the team was always with him with his decision making, but they'll get in sync.

Didn’t think I was critical, just would not start him. He does well at settling things from the ruck and gearing the teams head space for going forward. In the first half we could have used more speed at the ruck and we can always use better accuracy in the first pass. White has his strengths. I’d harness them from the bench.

Gordon otoh I don’t think earned a 23 spot against his alternatives. Serviceable, but we needed more than that.

Strange to hear the Kiwis saying they were rusty in the first test match of the season, wasn’t Super Aotearoa test match intensity and they needed a break to play against weaker opposition?
SuperAo is the best competition in the entire world. Never seen before talent and intensity. 10 levels above SuperAu, can’t even compare. Those kiwi boys are gods and we mere mortals are lucky enough to kiss their feet.

I was pacing in the room from Hodge stepping up to kick and didn’t stop for 10 mins. Taking the draw was easily the right call, +8mins, 100 yards to the try line, everyone exhausted, shit conditions.

Banks grew through the game though I’d still use Hodge.
Did not see the advantage of Gordon over Tate.
The Paisami critics fell flat, he was fine.
Should have brought Simmo and Uelese on considerably earlier.
Hooper showed class for his 100.
Not sure on White, I’d start Tate and let White settle things from the bench.
JOC (James O'Connor) - To'omua combination is better than workable.
Daugunu excellent debut.
Wilson OK must rewatch to see what I think.

Did Lolesio get time. If you’re not going to expose him bench 6/2 and stock another loosie.

Well done team. Win the home games and we keep the cup. Not a bad result.
Re Lolesio, I’m not sure Valetini came on either?

Hahaha! Was saying to my brother post game that maybe the supposed gulf between SRA and Super Rugby Au had been somewhat overstated.

It was a game missed by oz - even with ref blunder should have set up for field goal

Weather made field goal pretty dicey. Very soft underfoot with strong wind, could have been high risk especially for guys that aren’t used to doing it. Can see that by NZ not even trying to set up for it either.

Only caught the 2nd half but thought was a great game of rugby. Wallabies line out improved as game went on so hopefully gets worked on this week and no issue next week. Simmons shouldn’t play again, prefer to have a younger lock making those mistakes. Interesting thing is where does Jordi Petaia slot into this team? 13?

Anyway onwards to Eden park, anyone know who the ref is? Hopefully not the same bloke his reffing today was a little too bias to home team. I’m not for comparing total penalties but the best comparison is the length of advantages he was giving to all blacks (15-25m) vs wallabies (0-5m), just so frustrating.
