TT R5 Hurricanes v Reds Friday 5:05PM

You really have to learn the laws. It is probably not definitely.
It makes it easier to argue against refs if you know the laws!

So, as I understand it, for a penalty try to be awarded the Ref has to believe that a try was definitely going to be score if it wasn't for foul play. Two questions:

(1) How do you know that the Reds player deliberately knocked the ball over the dead ball, thus POTENTIALLY stopping a try being scored, and secondly

(2) How do you conclude that The Yellow player was definitely going to score the try. He seemed to miss the ball entirely, his hand was beneath the ball, thus allowing the Reds player to touch it.

Seems a little grey to me.

Man LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) and Tupou both had really bad games IMO. Solid in their core roles but around the park they were shocking. Tupou's ruck work is just down right lazy.

I thought Tupou was terrible. Didn’t think LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) was too bad. Paisami’s wallaby jersey not as assured.

One shining light is Grealy. He’s been bloody brilliant. Looks assured and I love he runs it straight. I think he’s a Smokey for RWC with no bolted on fullback. Fuck it, smokey for 2021.

And…how you doing?

Tupou has gotten worse over the last 2-3 weeks. I'd probably say his workload hasn't really been managed all that well this TT as Feao has moved to loosehead leaving only Zane (who isn't super level ready).

Having Flook and Grealy at the back was too green compared to Jock and Vunivalu. Liam wasn't that great and I think he and ASY (Angus Scott-Young) are becoming too similar in playstyle.

Sorry mate he has to decide a try would of PROBABLY would of been scored. As I say if you don't know the laws ,unfortunately it hard to aaccept criticism of ref even when it justified.
I honest I thought the Canes were slightly better and deserved win(by not as much), but glad it wasn't a game where it affected either team winning or losing comp!

.

I was wondering about Tupou. Is he finding it harder against Kiwi packs or just getting tired. he losing the ball a lot in contact etc (as he did before the winning try was scored in Super Au final;)).
I really think some players are overused, I think Jordie barrett for Canes is the same.

Hurricanes backs more damaging at the end of the day. The Reds had their chances, the referee didn’t cost them the game, simply took the edge off of what was shaping to be a closer contest.

I think the Hegarty kick out on the full was the end of any chance of the Reds going on with it.

I must be wonderful being to superior, but you aren't the only qualified Ref on here Champ and I know the laws. How do you get probably when you look at the video? You never actually answer questions, its always 'Ï'm a ref, I know best". I think Mehrtens spoke about that in the after match panel.

Did I see the Maroons in the Reds rooms giving a gee up at half time? Wondering if the Oz teams are in Wallabies protection mode with instructions to not get injured. Nothing to play for in Super Rugby?TT

That was one of the most diabolically one sided refereeing exhibitions I have ever seen.
Yeh but reds really were embarrassing at times with basic missed tackles and hegartys kicking out of hand, for touch and territory was just horrible. Overall I would say the reds vs expectations have been the most disappointed for this TT...

In an ideal world Hegarty would be a squad option at best. There was a reason no one cared when he left the Tahs. Depth issues shining through.

Just ignore it - He's the only kiwi on any internet forum anywhere who isn't wholeheartedly ashamed of the plonker in the centre. Just go elsewhere if you want some balanced validation of your impressions.
Hopefully there will be some official acknowledgement by removing Doleman as ref for the 2nd test wallabies v france.
Otherwise it's a game I wont bother watching.

What?? You can reach out in one movement IF THE BALL hasn't touched the ground!!
That’s not true. You’re allowed 1 dynamic movement in any direction. Ball touching the ground has nothing to do with it.

Only question is whether Tupou took too long, which you’d need to see at full speed.

Mate you can get upset all you want, if you know the laws you also know that probably is the law, and when you commit an illegal act, you then have to take it as you were not there, so if he wasn't there a try would of probably of been scored. Hell it's not being superior, as you say you know laws so will know that one (I not say I agree or like it), and I learnt that one when SBW got YCed and a PT against him for ABs a few years back.
