I can't see GT winning this week. I'd love them too but they don't have the attacking prowess to take it to the top teams.

Sure is,

16A - NC 27, BBC 0
16B - NC 52, BBC 0
16C - NC 67, BBC 0

Embarrassing and concerning for BBC's future first XV. But hey, BBC can fix it in traditional fashion. The good ol' checkbook!
Surely you aren’t suggesting that other GOS schools don’t import talent to the teams. BBC do not bring boys into the school in Grade 11.
I know some player managers and the offers from others put BBC out of the market.

Interesting round again.

I have already mentioned that I think the rugby intensity being played by NC and BBC are another level above the rest. Both of those teams have individuals capable of winning a game on their own. In many ways Southport have the same, with exciting game winners across the park. These three teams real Oozz talent.

Churchie to me have NOT a star studded team ( although they may emerge this year) and I have heard of these so called NZ’s BUT the team looks to be stacked with Churchie names that bleed blue and grey and are largely home grown product. They appear to be the little brothers of the past first 15’s over the last 5 years or so, or boys who’s fathers bleed blue and grey. Now I just guessing here but here is me trying to figure out this team . Crothers ( brother?) was Hooker a few years ago who made rep sides, Max Craig father was a 1986 1st member, 2nd rower Charlie Brosnan sound like the little brother of the outside centre for 2017 undefeated 2nd. Tom Stoddard 7 sounds like Tim Stoddard s son ( maybe nephew) who is 1987 1st vintage, who’s brother George played in the loose forwards in the last 2 year 1st 15. Jock MCPherson will be little brother of last years school captain and rugby captain Will. Archie Wilson will be little brother of last years half back and uncle john was in the 1982 premiership winning Churchie 1St. Larzlo SWord will be izzy’s brother. Mac Kelly on the wing looks to be the Son of Ben Kelly who was in the 1985/6 firsts. Most will not be blow ins but understand the culture of the blue and grey.

Now all that is me just guessing ( please correct me) , but if I am right you can see that this is a largely home grown team who has the ancestry , that would pass on the importance of the 1st 15 for the school. So the core , is able to form a true team bonded by the jersey rather than a group of talented individuals bought together by a cheque book.

I suspect this heritage will serve this team well and any Nz Additions will enhance but not overwhelm the real belief in this team.

Now we are talking what rugby culture is all about..... you can’t buy it.

My tips

Nc by 3 ( everything against NUDGEE this week including talented tgs team- TGS you have a real opportunity here!)
BGS by 3 ( BGS drilling will get them home)
ACGS by 12 ( churchie beware a wounded Ipswich )
BBC by 30 ( Terrace you are about to find out you have been living a dream- bbc will be looking to take their frustrations out)

The Sword brothers were at Corinda SHS before moving across in Year 10 or 11.

Weekend Tips

NC vs TGS
- Definitely the game of the round. If any of the remaining teams have the chance to beat NC it's TGS this week. No Toia, Daniel Maiava questionable, up the range on a cold day. It's a recipe for disaster (or success if you support BBC) which is a brewing.

This can go either way. As a BBC supporter, I'm hoping for a TGS victory, but I think the outcome will be close either way (TGS by 3)

BBC vs GT
- GT's little dream run is about to come to a blunt end. They are about to learn what it's like to play one of the big 3. No Hough, Annan, lots of small injuries wont make a difference to the outcome. BBC need to let out their anger from last weeks loss. BBC by 30+

ACGS vs IGS
- Churchie will put a cricket score on IGS. IGS for the wooden spoon IMO. ACGS by 50+. Out of interest, when was the last time (if ever) a school suffered a triple digit loss at First XV

BGS vs BSHS
- Close, but BSHS will make it over in the end. BSHS by 7

sounds odd hearing someone describe BBC as one of the big 3..

22 degrees and fine on Saturday up here. Weather so different from last Saturday so won't be a factor.

Congrats to NC & BBc on a great game on weekend . Huge crowd.Intensity plus -both sides getting lots of injuries.
Even I have to admit that if Zac H and Taj A played 2nd half -it may have been different.
I am very sorry to hear Zac H had a serious ankle injury. You will see that as far back as TSS trial - I picked him as the player of the comp.
That may spell the end for BBC this year.

And the 12,7 and injured 3 -all new in grade 11 this year ?And the brilliant 10 from Sunny Coast that started last year ?

Still wouldn't consider a school that has only won one outright rugby premiership a 'top rugby school'.
I'm not sure if this is correct but i don't even think they played everyone in the comp that year (covid)
Also only having 7 professional rugby union players isn't a great reflection of a 'top rugby school.'

Well done on the improvement over the last three years. Hopefully they can add to both of those list's over the next 119 years.

Since when do we rate the rugby success of a school by the amount of professional players it has produced. If that's the case, GT are the greatest rugby GPS school!!!

Rugby is a team sport, i'd say that the success of a school is given by the amount of games it has won. And since 2017, TSS, NC and BBC have been on another level!

Historically, if we open up the history books then you're right, BBC isn't a top rugby school (it is in fact likely the worst!). However, im more of a man to focus on the present. But hey, if you want to watch black and white replays then go ahead!

Thanks Blue and white. I don’t know 12 so you could be right there, 7 is Stoddard which I think you will find is a long established CHURCHIE family, did you mean 6? Number 3 on the weekend was BLOOMFIELD, now if I am right and have the right one , he started grade 5. I am not aware of an injured one but you could be correct.

Who would swap places with IGS. Churchie this week and TSS coming back from a bye the following week, no doubt primed to issue retribution in the shark tank against anyway in the way. Good luck IGS.

The Churchie starting 7 is def a Stoddard, one of many to go through the school. He came off at half time last sat with an injury I think and was replaced by a boy in year 10. (One of a few that are likely to play this year) 12 is new this year I think
