Not sure where to post this.

This thread seems to be the closet I think, mods move if you want. Could not find a thread about future facilities.

Back to the post.

Anyone especially Victorians have any insight into this. Its a 15K sports stadium in Dandenong, what I have been told is Melbourne City have moved into this area and council is looking to get a rugby team as well to make up the financial numbers for a 100 million dollar build.

From the Stadiums Australia web page.

It’s proposed the Dandenong Sports and Events Centre would host football and rugby, as well as festivals and concerts, while also providing facilities for education, training, community outreach programs and conferences.

It’s not happening and the Rebels wouldn’t move there

La Trobe uni is for RV & the women's side & hopefully Super W games. The Rebels with most of the players living in Richmond will still us Goshs paddock with the storm as a training field. Changing/video rooms at Aami park with the storm & share the weights facility with collingwood aflw at the lexus centre (if its still called that this week)

But as someone said prob not for this page

And there is no way we are moving to Dandenong it would isolate a lot of our fan base that would simply not travel and hour plus out of the city to watch them. I would cancel my membership

No way we are ever moving from AP.

Back to the topic will Reds games be at Bellymore with big games at Suncorp or all at Suncorp?

QRU own Ballymore yes
Probably need to refine that answer a bit.

QRU have a DOGIT i.e. Deed of Grant in Trust for (most of) that land from the state government.

That is a limited form of property right to use the land for, in this case, sporting purposes as defined in the grant.

It falls short of freehold where they can sell the land.

Yes

What I will add is that the Ministerial Infrastructure Designation(MID) for which they have applied for the latest master plan, if approved actually gives them greater use of the land outside of just sporting purposes, off the top of my head it includes education and medical purposes.

This MID will amend the terms of DOGIT and also exempt Ballymore from the BCC Developement Application process, if developed in accordance with the approved masterplan.

I see the MID for the Ballymore Development still hasn't been approved, at least not on the QLD Govt planning website, this is the DA approval to actually build the facility. Construction on the new precinct is supposed to start in the next few weeks, anyone in the know tracking what the state of it is?
