And yet you think RE-signing Korszyck is part of the answer?
No I only put it out there as a discussion topic.
Some folk go away and improve and therefore become an asset if re-signed. Some go away and end up less effective.
None of us will ever know unless it is discussed.

Controversial opinion but I think Wright has fallen behind Uru, Wilson and McReight.

Those 4 are an Ok foursome. Would be nice to have one starting wallaby in the backrow.

with ASY (Angus Scott-Young) leaving there’s a gap back to Vest. And then… quite a fall away. And we’ve seen how quick injuries can take hold.

lock is also starting to look light on. And so are the propping stocks.

without recruitment it will be down to the coaching team to get more out of these players. My take away from the season as a whole is that the pack struggled.

Does anyone know what the future holds for Tupou, if he doesn’t resign with the Reds they will have to find a very good replacement. Tupou may become the Reds million dollar man, with RU top up of course.

He's got a year left on his contract so he should be all good for 2023. Talks are ongoing for his contract beyond that.

You’d have to think the next one involves some time in Japan or Europe otherwise he will just go there full time … then picking the 3 Gits Law picks gets harder

I think the most-recent rumour is 1mil+ and 2 Japan sabbaticals? Can probably almost name his price at this point. I'd be surprised if he didn't have one more contract in Aus, but the bigger question is whether he stays at the Reds.

His family ties in QLD and baby due soon may mean he wants to stay put, and after the Reds had a taste of life without him, I reckon they fight even harder to keep him around.

I’ve almost given up on the Reds ability to contract well…. So wouldn’t be surprised to see him go elsewhere

Life without him is no fun.

My mail is the Rebels in box seat (I mentioned this on here a few weeks ago) as he is best mates with Alex Mafi and LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), Mafi now at the Rebels and LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) gone. Reds still with a chance but the relationship has lapsed.

Same source said if RA are desperate to keep him in Super Rugby there could be an internal contract transfer to the Rebels for 2023 (with the Reds being compensated) as a show of good faith to Taniela, as he could definitely go overseas for more cash.

Not the news I want to hear, but appreciated nonetheless.

At least we’ve had a big of practice without him I guess - hopefully got the worst of it out of the way…

$1m? that would make him the highest paid prop in the world! Would he even get that in Japan?

Tadhg Furlong is on between $800k & $850k at a side with no cap & pays more than anyone in the world, I agree he has to be paid but that seems over market value for a broke RA

Tadhg Furlong is arguably better, too.

Considering some of the other big money offers for Aus players coming from Japan recently, I have few doubts he would get that sort of money

Yeah but its in line with what positions get paid all over the world, Locks, 10's & full backs are generally the top 3 no prop is getting that. Hope he gets paid though maybe $900k with a sabbatical over 4 years is more realistic

Tadhg Furlong is earning over $1million a year these days, re-signed with IRFU end of last year and was reportedly offered around €1million a season from French clubs.

Atkinson mentioned that leadership may have been a reason behind Wells move to the Force:

With their current captian Kaitu'u off contract and Folau Fainga'a on his way in the Reds should definitely be making Kaitu'u a decent offer, particularly if we're losing Mafi.

A Sio, Kaitu'u, Tupou starting front row would be excellent if we could make it happen.
I rate Kaitu’u, form this year has dropped off but last year his Super Rugby form was great. Sio would undoubtedly be a good signing as well
