Under a change of leadership of the rugby program and school could we see Shore return to their glory days. With the third most amount of Prems definitely a history a exceptional rugby. Already we can see the depth of the program with two year 10s in pivotal roles for the 1st XV. Thoughts?

When you say 'we', as a player did you ever play in one of Joey's premiership sides ???
If you were a Joeys old boy you would understand that sitting in the grandstand for every game, all season and cheering your lungs out makes you a part of the whole process. "We" win together and "we" feel the loss together. The Joeys 1st XV is accessible to all teams and they do not sit at the top of a castle looking down upon the others. When my middle son was in year 8 his team had a 1st XV player run the water for them on Saturdays early in the morning. My youngest would have players from the 1st XV watch his game in 15C XV. You see them walking the back fields at Joeys on Saturday morning, running water, holding crash pads or even leading stretching for the Under 13 boys.

As the old joke goes....

How many Joeys boys does it take to screw in a flashbulb?
1000....because no one works alone.

So the answer to the question is 'no'. I do however marvel at the support, passion and rigger that the joeys crowd possess. No other school comes close, maybe a reason Joeys produce strong teams year in and year out?

I believe Ekin-Su is quite a talented player and will not let the team down. He has been very very competitive for the 13 jersey throughout the age groups. I specifically remember in the 15As when he came on against Newington and did not disappoint. He has been working very hard to gain another chance since them. It wont be quite the same as having Cummins but I do believe he has potential to put on a clinic alongside Di staso.
I think Bish was an option however suffered a hamstring injury late this week. He was playing in the 16As and was doing well alongside Owen. He was impressive against Shore and has a bright future in the coming years.

Wow, I was not aware of this. Joeys high leaders with 144, followed by Kings with 60 and Shore with 37. It amazes me to see the History of the Schools and how the competition would've looked back in time. Shore will the total premierships of 37 shows a different team compared to the last few years. Doesn't surprise me that Kings and Joeys are the main leaders far ahead from the pack with amazing consistency throughout all the GPS teams. With the recent years of form from View and Scots it shows that their cohort of rugby is not as strong as we think as they are semi dominant in the 1sts but not as consistent through the other teams. Scots have won more 1sts prems than their 2nds and 3rds combined aswell as Newington College. SBHS behind as usual

Is this the final team list?. Im pretty sure Davide Ekin-Su (#13) in year 11 was supposed to step in for the injured Steep. Wow, nevertheless great selection as i am the #10. Cannot wait for the Newington game vs kings, I think Mclean will have a blinder as-well as Dan Wright using the show and go dummy through the line. Newington +17,
Yes Davide Ekin-Su is quite the talent. I hear from all the Scots boys about how they call him the silent assassin due to his ability to sneak thought the defensive line so well and the little recognition he receives. Perhaps Scots are playing mind games much like Joeys and will bring Davide in closer to kick-off. Regardless Ekin-suiiii will be a large threat next year when he gets a true go in the 1st XV and #13 jersey.

SBHS has produced the best schoolboy team though. 5 Wallabies came from the 1963 team.
When you look at the complete record you see some interesting patterns.
Early days was dominated by Kings and Grammar.
Joeys didn't win their first till 1904.

Very Interesting, maybe back in the day High and Grammer were not so academic focused?
Also shows how dominant Joeys Rugby actually is!

Interesting point. I believe that every school goes in waves of success, Joeys probably an outlier to this. Though Shores has seen some dark times in the last decade, it does seem the competition is levelling out a bit more. And that anyone on their day can beat anyone. I wonder who will go through a rough patch next.

This is a very interesting point you raise, although I believe it is more than just a wave... It is a tsunami!!
Schools get reputations placed upon them making it harder for them to recover out of dark periods I saw this even back when I was at school. I couldn't imagine how it is now days with all this silly technology our kids have.

I think Newington or Kings may see a rough patch soon, with Scots, Shore and View to excel and develop throughout the seasons to come. With Joeys staying strong and challenging every team.
