I think Newington or Kings may see a rough patch soon, with Scots, Shore and View to excel and develop throughout the seasons to come. With Joeys staying strong and challenging every team.
I truely believe this is an accurate statement. The mindset within the Scots camp is one that is unstoppable, just inspirational. I was lucky enough to witness this in their pre-season trainings where they push themselves to the limit, where I was asked to coach part of their squad. #nolimit

Interesting point. I believe that every school goes in waves of success, Joeys probably an outlier to this. Though Shores has seen some dark times in the last decade, it does seem the competition is levelling out a bit more. And that anyone on their day can beat anyone. I wonder who will go through a rough patch next.

Joeys have had two major title droughts that lasted 11 years
1907 to 1918
2007 to 2018

SBHS has produced the best schoolboy team though. 5 Wallabies came from the 1963 team.
When you look at the complete record you see some interesting patterns.
Early days was dominated by Kings and Grammar.
Joeys didn't win their first till 1904.
Waverley 1999 team could also pose as one of the great schoolboy teams, Stephen Hoiles, Morgan Turuni, Patrick Phibbs, the late Shawn Mackay all played rugby of some variety for Australia

Here is the complete premiership history. Compiled by a Joeys Old Boy. Took 13 months of research.
It is a fascinating document.

Oh no... schoolboys have invaded the G&G forum

(It was bound to happen eventually though - occurs every year at about the same time too)

Kings, Grammar and New were the first GPS schools so that’s likely why.

Joeys played AFLtill they joined the AAGPS. Took a while to get a handle on rugby. They won in 1896 but had the title taken from them when it was found they had an overage player.

Back to the rugby - I am still not sure whether MJ is playing or not for Joeys tomorrow.

Can someone please confirm?

I don't think Chrisso is as bad as SROS is saying, althought it's fairly patchy, when it's not rainy, the fields are fine to play on, quite soft. It's such a nice location but drainage there is very difficult as it apparently actually used to be a tip in the early 1900's. Not sure when it became a field but I know scot's have been playing there for 40 years+ . It's certainly not as good as joeys 1 or 2 but it's not the worst field i've seen/played. As for the potholes, I'm pretty sure there are some around the entire park but i've never seen someone trip in one, knock on the wood that no one does.
Chrisso park is an utter disgrace I cannot Scot’s has this crap level of fields. Scot’s facilities are the worst in the GPS and CAS an utter disgrace

Honestly. A number of the GPS schools have used public fields to supplement their main grounds. These fields are impossible to maintain to the same standard, especially in bad weather with high traffic. Scots have for a long time used Centennial Park Parade Ground as well and while not perfect, the fields are absolutely fine for school rugby. Joeys College E field, across the road from the main school, is also not great but I think we need to accept that every field is not going to be like the SCG.

Thomas Klem shifted to full back in the absence of Payne tomorrow. Klem played fullback in year 10 last year for shore. He’s gonna be back to his best tomorrow, bad day to be a view supporter
