Qld Premier Rugby 2022

Dobbins has to start. Uni have a lot of all ballers and Wests need all hands on deck to counter. I'd also be starting Henry at 12 outside of Gordon because composure will be key. Not sure what that means at 13 - perhaps Filipo. Discipline also vital. It should have cost Wests the game a couple of weeks ago.
Yeah, I think it comes down to how much trust they're willing to place in Uelese and when they make the change. Doing it so close to half time didn't work last time, but it'd be a big call to leave a wallaby on the bench all game.

Be interesting to see if Tate or Suli play this weekend. Assume no Jordy or Hunter as haven't seen them all season

As much as you want Wallabies on the field, It would be a shame for the guys who’ve been there all year if Petaia and/or Hunter swooped in and played in the GF when they haven’t featured this year.

At least Tate laced them up a few weeks ago and Suli has played 3 games.

Apparently Hunter Paisami will play for Wests this weekend - at flyhalf

Yeah change of plans. Rugby Australia swooped in and said no wallabies to play.

Hunter almost got a run with the 2022 dogs. Regs post back from June 10th. Got selected for the wallabies that weekend. But was at training prepping for the North Eagles.

& how often do we see Jordy Petaia play club rugby? Almost had him line up it fullback last year in 2021 against Bond with teammates Pone Fa’amausili, Rob Leota, Jordy Eulese & Trevor Horsea before a Covid scare has the wests rebels wallabies rushing across the ditch.

I think the last time Petaia played club rugby was for the Sunnybank Dragons in 2019, you may recall wests finished the year on a bye week and Michael Cheika insisted Petaia use a extra weekend of clubland as one final hit out before the World Cup.

For the record. If Rennie needs healthy bodies for their trip over the ditch and HP + JP are nowhere near the QPR GF then I am totally on board for that

Neither named for Bled 1 so could see both McDermott and Vunivalu in the GF.

Petaia named on the bench.

Not great for the Reds to only have two in the team , both off the bench.

Gotta wonder if Taniela Tupou would have been considered for the Filth had they made the GF.

I reckon there’s a high chance Tate and Suli play, it’ll be good for the game as well and might attract a few of the more casual rugby fans to tune in on GEM.

I reckon UQ get the job done by 12pts but Wests will lead at halftime.

Same issue last year with Paisami. Wests asked for the dispensation come finals time and the QRU said no.

kind of weird they don’t have these reds players on auto renewal… but it makes sense considering the QRU said all rugby season that Dane Zander was linked with norths but low and behold he ended up with UQ.

WTF? Does Rennie have an aversion to Maroon? Is the heat north of the border that he doesn't like? Is this Dan putting his stamp on things?
Has Brad offended someone from down south?
Who kicked the black cat, walked under the ladder and broke the mirror?

Surely there is some sound explanation for the direct snubbing of Qld lads?

With Wests that's a few $$$$ :)
The breakdown of the playing fees would mean they are only be out of pocket $163 per player (covers insurance, state, and association fees. Club fees would go back to them anyway). Granted they have more pro players than most clubs, but it really is a tiny fee to allow for a Super and/or Wallaby play in finals without any concerns. and in this case it is a Grand Final! Fool Wests once...

When is the Alec Evans medal named? And what are the odds on Oates going back to back?
Gets presented at the Grand Final Breakfast on the Friday before the GF. Guessing will be made public sometime Thursday. Oats would be in with a good chance, think Dobbins would be in the conversation. I would love to see Pat Morrey get the nod , probably unlikely seeing he didn’t make the QPR team of the season, but his game involvements are the ones that every coach and player rate highly, just don’t look as impressive on a highlights reel …..

Could be wrong, but I’m fairly sure years ago GPS thought they had Morrey ready to play for the Gallopers straight out of school. I knew there were wraps on him so when I heard he ended up heading to Uni I was pretty deflated.

He’s become one of my favourite players in the comp, good work rate and a great leader. Hopefully he gets some recognition either at this level or more professionally if he’s seeking that down the track.

Yeah he was due to play at GPS for his first season out of school. A mate of mine was in the Colts’ coaching set up there at the time. He got offered a scholarship at UQ from memory, which means he was open to conversations.
