I had a couple of looks at it and I think he was caught by Wilson's lift and then tripped over a guy on the ground. I didn't think there was a lot he could do but he was there and a yellow seemed OK to me.

It's very handy for kids to play soccer up till secondary school and then we need a % of them looking for a contact sport.....I was going to add with no theatrics but it has come to rugby as well.

From memory it seemed to be that the NZ player was holding onto a Wallaby on the ground which really contributed to him going past the horizontal.
That being said, a card was probably fair, if only there was one last week too..

Overall, yes its soccer but for high school-age boys it's basketball & has been for over five years now. Sure, some of those ballers are also playing rugby & other sports but schoolboy rugby is in dire straits in many parts of the country, it's just not the dominant sport it once was & I think that's part of the reason so many top-flight schools are bringing in so many scholarship boys from PI. Girls rugby OTOH is thriving & I believe there are now schools where more girls play rugby than soccer (but still not as many as play netball).

A few thoughts from last night:
1) It seemed to me that what little attack we had fell apart completely when Foketi went off. I still don't know why they brought Petaia on into the centers instead of Hodge.
2) On Petaia, I'm just not convinced. When was his last great (or good) game in gold? His 2019RWC debut?
3) I don't know how we solve our discipline issues, its so bad now that I feel we also get penalized because we are know for poor discipline
4) The fact that we cannot put in two consistent games is deeply concerning. Is it that teams can adapt to our game plan too easily? Are we playing too one dimensional?
5) I cant see us getting to a final in 12 months. At this rate I'm not sure I can see us winning 50% on the EOYT
6) Maybe its because I just watched Gold Digger, but I almost want us to start to pick and stick with the core of a team. Pick a 9,10,12,15 and play them for the next 5 years in preparation of 2025
7) I haven't lost the love yet, but man its hard being a Wallabies fan.

My thoughts on the performance. Forwards serviceable backs not.
I hope this has shown the selectors the 2nd tier /mid 20s players are not up to the task and to start thinking about bringing on the next generation on the northern tour and RWC with a view to 2027. But what would I know?

Agreed. A card was fair. it was dangerous. Just like it was last week. The inconsistency continues.
I am not sure how bringing in a less experienced set of units will do anything but get us murdered by more
On the backs
9 = is random, we have 3 units all about the same
10 = we have a pensioner and a kid, we need to get the kid more game time
11 = Praise be to Koro
12 = Foteki has been less crap than I expected, a good back up for Kerevi
13 = Praise be to Ikitau
14 = Open spot, Wright has too many brain farts for test rugby
15 = Praise be to Kellaway
So to me, the backs have three quality starters and place markers

Too many changes/injuries', if we can get near our first choice options we can be competitive
Samu has been a relevation, Valentini would be first back row picked
Locks ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, sorry Hollaway just isn't a test lock, a very solid Super Rugby level unit but not test lock (and he should be about 5 choice)

I think you're onto something. NZ have always been able to adapt quicker then us. We always seem to roll out the exact same game-plan. Cheika was probably the worst at this, but it seems Rennie is doing this too.
England series a good example of when this happened. The Argentina loss, and now the Bled. The opposition all adapted and then smashed us.

So we got Koro (who is also prone to a few bad decisions and errors), Ikitau, and Kelleway being test quality. A winger, outside centre and fullback/wing.
Even if we had the best 13,14,15, in the world we aren't going to win matches if our 9 and 10 aren't performing. These guys really need to step-up.

Other than 9, each of those positions has gone through two to three people in there due to injuries.
Outside of 9, Rennie showed who his first picks are in those spots and kept trying to select them. However, everyone kept breaking down.
We have one that looks OK, I would be picking him to start in the Aus A games if there was space before europe

By being around the ones who can perform, perhaps they'll see what is required in terms of preparation and attitude. Of course, I acknowledge this depends on being someone (anyone?) who can perform under pressure at an international level.

I’m not sold on Noah as being the answer. I would give Donaldson and Edmed time in the A games as well and take the 2 best performers of the 3 on the EOYT.
