just one - Sharnie Williams although Shannon Parry has been there all year and then you have the likes of previous squad members Michelle Murphy and Bienne Terita

Are we missing out by not trying to convert more across? Or are we happy with just Sharni & Shannon.

Wallaroo selection is reward for those who made the sacrifice by playing for zero wages during Super W, its one of the few carrots they can dangle to those players to stop them switching to other codes.

You could parachute in a few more 7s players, but many have never even played 15s. And it would be a pretty big snub to those who have earned the positions through SuperW

Alrighty then, RWC21 starts in a couple days going purely off WR (World Rugby) rankings, Aus should definitely progress to the quarter finals (unless we lose to both Wales & Scotland who are lower than us) then we'll probably be bundled out in the QFs. So hopefully we'll get some nice wins.

Honestly, i wouldn't be so confident.

2 or 3 years ago I would have said yes, but NRLW has pillaged the Super W Teams, and players like Millie Boyle who used to swap between Wallaroos and Jillaroos are now firmly in NRLW. At the same time, the 6 Nations Women's tournament has grown significantly, Wales now has a core group of entirely professional XV players, and Scotland has semi-professional.

Don't get me wrong there are some quality players in the Wallaroos, but the depth has been pillaged and professional contracts on offer for the competitors will make a massive difference in S&C. The girls will be battling uphill, and any win will be an achievement this tournament.

35,000 fans cheering in the stands might make it a more attractive prospect in the future.

I think some like Maddison Levi would be a superstar, and Charlotte Caslick goes without saying, but majority of the 7s squad have never played 15s, so they could realistically only fill a few of the back positions. Also skillsets like kicking are largely absent in 7's, so you probably wouldn't want a 7's player filling the 5/8 or fullback role.

Anyway we digress

Alysia Lefau-Fakaosilea would be first player picked. She was a superstar in XVs already. She'd be in my centres with Williams.

Having spoken to a few of the 7s players since they've been back in Australia, it sounds like they aren't exactly encouraged to make the jump either.

I cant see any reason why Caslick could not have been one of the greatest 15's players ever, if she had the opportunity to develop the skills. I think she has more talent and natural skills that just about any player in mens or womens rugby.

Unfortunately it is probably too late to convert, and if she wanted a new challenge than NRL and AFL probably offer better ways to try to set herself up for life after football.

Mark Robinson says NZR are in talks with Home Unions wrt hosting an inaugural women's B&I Lions tour. Didn't give any time-frame just that they're talking.
Wow , now that would be something, can't believe me of all people is excited over that idea! Boy that would get the womens game humming, and I as it the biggest area of growth for the game whooeee!

Alan Bunting (who I thought might get the gig when they fired Moore) is now the Black Ferns coach through to the next women's RWC. No assistants named yet but I'd expect at least Hansen to be in there & possibly some recently-retired players e.g. Kendra Cocksedge in skill/ role-specific/ mentoring roles.

Apparently some of the journos in attendance tried to get Robinson to discuss the Razor situation but got slapped down (as they were for doing the same at the Super Rugby Aupiki launch earlier in the week).

Crap journalism isn't it? It's about Women's rugby FFS, and these pricks try and change the narrative!

Not really. I'm a big supporter of the Women's game but the Razor stuff it the biggest story in NZ rugby at the moment. It would be the same at the Super Rugby launch.
