Hi all, first-time poster here ... any predictions for the 23 season?
WDS
Hey Mate, looks like knox will be the team to beat with a lot of returning players but this could be one of the most competitive years in a while. Waverly will be strong. Cranbrook had a strong seconds and trinity had a lot of boys coming through the gen blue program and barker will most likely produce a team which is in the hunt for the title as they go back to back

A few CAS (and soon to be CAS) boys in the Gen Blue squad playing brumbies this weekend. The team looks fairly unstoppable after demolishing QLD.

Quite a few boys being picked up by Barker as they try make another premiership team.

Can anyone beat them?

News coming out of barker's recruiting system that they are trying to poach U16s gen blue players,Harper Strachan,Taite Howells,Riley Evans. If they can get those boys into the Barker rugby program and develop them to be ready before the 2023 CAS season i see Barker having a strong 1st Xv in 2023.

Barker won’t be getting tatie bowels they’ve been developing lees weaver to be there half back for last few years. Even took him to nudgee. This forum needs to stop suggesting every bloke who puts on a gen blue jersey is going to barker unless they definitely know

Scholarships aren't cheating... not comparable...
Scholarships in and of themselves isn't cheating. But going out and offering wholesale freebies to talented Rugby players for no other reason to win games probably falls into that category.

Anyway - how Barker chooses to spend its money is their business. But in turn, they have to justify to their parents why it is that some of them have to pay full freight for a second grade experience for their boys whilst others will get a first grade experience for free.

Yep... that is the purpose of scholarships... not cheating and not the only school to do it.

Which players get free tuition at Barker? Because it's far fewer than people like you are making it out to be. Some of these "scholarships" merely got free boarding... Some half tuition and some only bursarys. Others had their schooling paid for by entirely separate entities... professional footy franchises...

Very few boys have reason to complain... Very few of the boys shafted to seconds are even close to 1stXV quality players...

Has anyone had any information as to whether CAS will revert to home and away for 2023? Not a question as to whether that’s the right or wrong thing to do, more interested in whether there has been any decisions made - the CAS website is never a great source of up to date information

The hoops you have to jump through to justify them show you know they are wrong. The Barker community know they are wrong. And as I mentioned already, it has become embarrassing for the community that people like you continue to justify this while parents like me outline the long term implications of this win at all costs attitude.

Very few suffer... the majority benefit.

The "Barker community" love the fact that Barker has a successful 1stXV now.
