The bloke had his pick of teams around the World at 17, chose to come to Aus to play for the Wallabies and be near his brother. In the 8 years since he's gotten nearly 90 Reds caps and nearly 50 Wallabies Caps.

You can debate whether he's worth $1 million AUD to RA, but he'll be worth something pretty close to that to someone.

So it’s looks like Eddie has signed 5 years for $4.5M, honestly less than I thought, but I reckon he’s got some very juicy kickers in there for series and tournament wins. Probably leaves more money to sign a top tier assistant as well.

Anyway, McLennan goes full hype man in the same article. Saying Eddie is about to orchestrate the biggest comeback in rugby history and the Wallabies will win RWC23. Wow, no pressure.

Agreed, and he certainly is, but not before he gets that ego in check.

let’s not make the same mistake Dingo did with JOC (James O'Connor) when he called Phil Waugh a ‘slow old dog’.

instead of Noriega stepping in and yelling ‘no punches’ at the time, he should have turned a blind eye and become an impromptu ornithologist.
JOC (James O'Connor) spending a few days in hospital at the time might have ended with a decade of one of the best players ever to pull on a gold jersey instead of a divisive show pony who needed to nearly freeze to death in the waters of an Icelandic river to realise his ‘brand’ would mean nothing unless he used his talent to make his team better as a whole.

*I love JOC (James O'Connor) and his redemption story has been so heartwarming - I just wish he could have been given the proper guidance/slap down he needed at the time. The 3 Amigos could have been so much more than they become if they’d been humbled a bit more early on.

Pretty fine line between putting someone into hospital and permanently diabling them or killing them, but I guess that's one way to go.

the coach who should be getting a lot more hype is Peter Hewitt (spelling?)

2019/2020 he had the Brumbies attack firing on all cylinders- that away game against the Chiefs when we treated them like newborn babies was just beautiful to behold.
McKellar strikes me as an excellent head/forward coach/director of rugby kind of guy, but he was a prop, not a flyhalf.

I think his best move going forward as a coach is to find the best backline/attack coach he can find, and stick with him like superglue, and ride that combo long term

Haha, that's pretty ironic coming from Mitchell considering that he was more than happy to see Ewen McKenzie walk.

Remember the week Ewen McKenzie departed Drew Mitchell was tweeting about what a great fella Beale was and completely supported the NSW cartel's undermining of Ewen. He also wrote on the night McKenzie resigned something like "let's not let this whole saga detract from the occasion of it being Ashley-Cooper's 100th match..." So he clearly didn't have a problem with the precedent that was created.
