Though would like to see more of those tap set plays. Looked like that specific Chiefs play always should've gone out the back on the second pass, but was still far more interesting than another #8 run off the scrum. Hopefully defensive coaches don't come up with a easy play to quickly kill them.

Geez that was a cracker, and rules of 30 seconds at lineout etc certainly kept everything moving. Pretty happy with the result, I am guessing there some tired sore bodies in Chch right now. Great opening game for Super season!

That was great. chiefs looked in serious trouble in the first half. McKenzie got completely outplayed by Ioane when he came on.

Chiefs held the pace better than the Crusaders. Early season fitness maybe? I thought guys like nainkevel played at more speed than Ennor and Goodhue

Actually Dc, I thought Ioane came on when the Crusaders were looking buggered, went well, but I thought DMac went bloody well over whole game and showed he has learnt to control position on field. Lurch was immense at lock, thought Cane was just an energiser bunny, never stopped. Stevenson was also very bloody good. But whole Chiefs team was very good.

Yep GOR, but suspect also because the Chiefs pack were on top, and Crusaders were tiring form a lot of defence. Don't think the Crusaders were poor by any means , just Chiefs I think with pretty good bench wore them doen.

Newell being held up was key IMO: at 0-17 Tribe would've had to chase the game a lot earlier & for a lot longer than they did. Even the Taylor no-try, if scored, would've given CruSadists a healthy lead to build on after HT. Instead Tribe made CruSadists chase the game, something they don't have to do all that often.

I've watched the replay. What a display by Chiefs! Have they the best second row in the competition?

Aside from maybe Blackadder hard to think of many Crusaders who outplayed their opposite.

Crusaders attack needs a rethink under these new rules I think - what they dished up last night isn't going to cut it.

What’s going on with the Sky broadcast of the Pasifika v Drua match.

The sponsorship logos they CGI onto the field keep glitching; they’re flashing on and off and having issues when players run in front.

now it looks like they have disabled them

MP (Moana Pasifika) v Drua points aggregate keeping up with the clock which is pretty much what I expected.

Bean counters at Sky will be fretting about how much these games are costing them ($500 a point so $50K already), treasurers of the cyclone relief funds getting the cash will be loving it. Hopefully Clan & Loss Bleus can kick in another $20-odd K tonight.
