Wallabies 2023

It must have been a pretty good argument to take your toys and leave like this
fattie I read an article detailing some of the arguments asst's had with Jones in UK and how short their time was. One was that great Wallaby fullback Roger Gould (name?)

We have to get back to the Australian way, running rugby. Randwick did it with much success in the 80s and 90s. I’d like to see us have a blanket rule… unless we are in our quarter, don’t bloody kick the thing. I think in the game against Portugal, our backline should be:
9: Tate
10: Donaldson
11: Fines
12: Perese
13: Mark N (Nawaqanitawase) (Nawaqanitawase)
14: Kellaway
15: Marika

Plenty of pace, ball in hand up tempo run first mentality. Sink or swim, whoever thrives (and I expect most to do well) starts in our quarter final. I suspect we’ll play England and we’ll run them off the park.
You know what, why not try it?

I still think Matt dunning's comments on Jones's approach is probably the most accurate, he will be/is polarising

Dunning did not share the same concerns about Jones’ culture because the current Wallabies side didn’t have world class players in its side like the cricket team.........
“JL’s working with the best in the world, [Pat] Cummins, [Steve] Smith, [David] Warner, [Nathan] Lyon; you’re dealing with superstars, and the superstars have the ability to throw you out with the bathwater because they are winning and they’re going to win regardless,” Dunning said.

“But the Wallabies won’t have that. There’s not the characters who are going to be there, and that’s why I reckon he’ll do really well. He’ll do well because people will buy in.

“I thought Eddie was awesome. I’ve never been spoken to by a human-being worse, but it’s different with Eddie. Everything he said was pretty spot on. I worked better with the stick, that worked for me.”

With a RWC so close if he doesn’t want to be there fuck off then.

It would have been showing at training if he felt this way and the players would have seen it.

Don’t think this will really endear you to many teams Rugby or League around the world. Back to some miserable Northern English town champ.

Can anyone really say they are surprised?

We're all still hoping that Eddie is some kind of genius, hell I had drunk the cool aid after the second bledisloe (until the WTF squad announcement)

What if the guy is just a bit toxic?

Look Eddies great. his after a team that's unstructured and not set plans.... because it will get you so far but not all the way.. it's why he has dumped the Brumbiies players..

will it work? dunno but its him trying a different way... hopefully he pulls the lord in for his snatch and grab, I think it was a mistake to not take Fisher...

Football Australia - watch them squander the positivity of the last few weeks with petty infighting...

Nah, Football has the problem that Aussies (as a general rule, not as a specific) are amongst the most fickle sports fans out there. They like watching winners, they want scenarios where you can believe (reasonably or otherwise) it's the highest quality version of it out there, and wherever possible, want to see it "at home".

There's not a good way to leverage the World Cup's success: Only two of the current squad play in the A-League, and the competitions are locked away behind Paramount+, which has one of the worst Cost-to content for streaming services (before you even consider UX) and doesn't even try to provide "all the football" in the way that Stan scoops up as much as is practicable.

It has a big number amount of issues around integrating "Old Sokkah" with new football that will help it stuff things up, but it's an uphill battle there before you even get into their victim complexes around exposure and funding.

True. They’ll have some riot, player abuse or fans fighting at a men’s A-League game that will ruin all the positive things done by the women
