AAGPS Eight will be coming out in a few months: This is my best read on it.

Rogers (K)
Hennessy (I)
Hines (K)
Ellis (G)
Ciesiolka (J)
Moloney (J)
Mitchell (J)
Fuller (N)
Cox: Burton (I)
Reserve: Muffet (E)
Muffet as resvere? Seems a tad low. To be fair, however, him not being a returning 1st VIII member doesn't exactly paint him positively.

Kinda rough being 2nd VIII two years in a row. Feel for him. Certain he'd be 1st VIII at any other school.
The Shore 2nd VIII has greatly increased its competitiveness as opposed to last year, potentially because Longstaff has gotten better as a cox. Hard for Longstaff to cox 1st VIII when Fox is ahead of him. Anyone have any thoughts on the Shore 2nd VIII crew for HOTR?

TBD. The introduction of Ollie Smith is making things look up, considering their improved results thus far and the fact he broke a SIRC record two years ago.

Dear Members of the GPS Rowing Forum,

Deary me! A little birdy dropped by and told me about an aweful story about the schoolboy 3rd IV race and how the language used by the 3rd IV after a horrific crash, i can belive how riverview acted but cannot forgive the shore coxswain for the laungue as it offeneded a lovely family on a boat on the water and i cant belive how someone has the audacity to ruin someones day, OH LORD
Rightio buckaroo! This might JUST be the funniest thing I have EVER seen!!! My wife is in hysterics; she is screaming and moaning FAR louder than I have ever been able to achieve. Thank YOU joeys101.

Could be true. Yet I have also heard about several key characters in that crew as well as the Shore 1st VIII, who were brought into the program to boost Shore's results and create depth.

guys, dale told me that they may use the old 4th y10 VIII boat. This means the all mighty GE Davidson will make a return. i previosuly rowedd agasint this boat in 2003 when i was at scots 1st VIII
Good day, fottyboars48.

I was wondering what your wife's opinions on the Kings 2VIII bow seat were? Mine thinks he's a bit of a parking break!

Teaching staff has shifted quite a lot since last year. The boot of Jennings, the introduction of Jason Baker, only time will tell if these changes were sucessful.

They were 4th at PLC/Kings. And Ollie Smith has clearly made some changes that have worked since then, considering they secured a second in both races last weekend.
Not sure if you've put this together, but this weekends race, nor HOTR, are race on a 1400m course with unfair lanes and in shit water.

Hope this helps!

xx

I know. Pretty solid senior coxes. But Longstaff is more of a comeback story, whilst Fox has been in the 1sts every year, including year 7.

bold of you to speak about lanes, considering the sheer idiocy of Kings and Ignatius coxswains who are clearly unable to steer. True, Shore may perform better in shorter races, but that is certainly subject to change.

I still have heard about Shore finally importing athletes, not just in rowing but in rugby as well. They are the last school to make this change.

The now Year 11 boys at Ignatius had these top 15 rankings last year.

1. Ward
2. Tancred
3. Johnston
4. Delany
5. McGrath
6. Davis
7. Conna
8. Mc Pherson
9. Field
10. Burke
11. Forlico
12. Sullivan
13. Gontarcy
14. Peterson
15. Van Rijswijk

INJ - Hyles (predicted to be in the top 5)

These were sent to me via a college who used to coach at Ignatius. Keep in mind these are not only a year ago but also ergometer based. Yet I hop some of you find this valuable when predicting Ignatius boats for the weekend.

On the subject of Coxswains, the best Gold Cup line award is tied between Tayar (J) and Longstaff (E). Simply brilliant lines put their crew to the fore!
Chairman,
I would have to give it to Tayar (J).Had the 2nd IV rowers with no worries about there course and allowed them to row their race. I believe that the coxwains should be brought up more as a good cox can make a poor crew a good one.

On the topic of the IV races, I would like to raise my concern on the fact that the kings 4th IV are all members of last years 1st jnr VIII winning HOTR crew. Is this kings stacking???

Am open to all opinions.

You could call it stacking, however you must remember that these rowers have not been training to a gps standard prior to about 3 weeks (or less) ago. Thus, their fitness is most likely not of a similar standard to the competition, and most likely injury prone as well. Not to say they won't be a successful crew, however I certainly do not believe it is unfair to have them racing in that division, especially with the close competition from shore and Riverview.

I dont believe this is true. Since they were a good Jr 8 crew winning head of the river, they are not at that big of a disadvantage not having much experience in the GPS. I would say that their fitness would be on par with the crews from Shore and Riverview. So take it how you want, but its certain that those boys should be in a higher crew than 4th 4 and I think there is some stacking of the lower crews from Kings.

There was a large speedboat driving down the middle of the course and washing off the crews. Not sure which one but either kings or Riverview boat was picked up by one of the waves and washed into the other taking them out and breaking the kings stroke seat oar so he couldn’t row the rest of the race. Same thing happened to kings 1st 8 in the final of the SB8

Recruiting for rowing! unsure how that's possible, to pick up a kid with the right build and mentality for a sport like rowing is extremely challenging. If you believe one of the students is imported, who is such?
