Rugby Championship 2025 : South Africa v Australia Round 2

Bit out of left field - but what about Flook on the wing for Pietsh ? He has so much rugby intelligence - and just throws himself into any game and gives 1000%. He has the ability to be just in the right place at the right time - and can score tries out of thin air.
Nah he's not really a winger or a test quality player IMO - Toole, Kellaway or Daungunu are better options

On tiktok, most of the comments from SA fans are some combination of "the ref cheated us", "Rassie has a master plan and lost this match deliberately" and "it was DEFINITELY match-fixing". While I agree that we all have rubbish fans, this has been .....different.
That is NOT the view of the average fan. Everyone I know has been eating humble pie and is talking about what to do from here. Twitter and instagram are NO reflection of reality in any way. Rational fans are giving the Wallabies full credit, and they are in the majority.

And to admit as a grown man that you are on tik tok, well now...

Yeah there have been a lot of Bok fans on social media openly eating humble pie and giving credit where it’s due. This last test has shocked a lot of them (and us to be fair).

To be honest, it benefits all SH teams to have the Wallabies on the up a bit. Stronger competition between all SH teams can only be a good thing. Realistically the ABs and Bokke still have much better depth in many positions, but the Wallabies are making up some ground in belief.

Without beating a dead horse, the biggest benefit is that it's gotten people talking about fucking rugby again. Couldn't have happened at a better time than after the Lions win. Go on with it lads!

1000%

Nobody benefits from a weakened Wallable team.

All of us love shitting all over each other from time to time, but the different styles pose challenges that make all the teams in 4N stronger.

I feel very happy for my Australian friends with whom I used to watch rugby when I still lived in Sydney. It was a long dry winter over a good few seasons. Most kept watching, some drifted, but I reckon they are all back at the pub.

FYI Rassie said before last week's game that Cape Town will be a different team and that it had already been selected.

I wonder how different it was from this.

Anyway. Pretty exciting team. I would have had Kobus Wiese at 7 but happy.

Proper bomb squad bench.

However:

Nche (30) Marx (31) Du Toit (30) Snyman (30) Van Staden (30) Mostert (35) Du Preez (30) Pollard (31) Kolbe (32) De Allende (34) Kriel (31) Le Roux (36)

I have mentioned in another thread, how most I talked to here in NZ are quite happy with the way Wallabies are going, and were right behind them against Lions. As you point out it benefits everyone when all teams are strong. Makes all go a lot harder to try and beat them, and in a monetary sense etc gets more eyeballs wanting to watch, both at game and at the games.
I genuinely (and many I know) want the ABs to have a real battle to win, it's why we call them tests.

Who can say what is old for any individual player.. look at JOC (James O'Connor) last weekend.
But when you have a large group of your players at over 30, with a number at 34 +, then you are stretching the limits.

Damian Willemse the 23 for the Boks in the first Test was absolutely terrible and no wonder not named in the coming Test. Watch how Aussies just run around him on numerous plays.
