Rugby Championship 2025 : South Africa v Australia Round 2

Yeah it's the wise call. I still reckon these 'likely available' names are not really a good indication of anything. Your greatest attribute as a player is your health. Both Cale and Wright are a ways off breaking into that Wallabies squad. With a strong showing in Super AU Brial would be close to being considered for Spring Tour (depending on what we want to do with Gleeson and Hooper).
MT I would sincerely like to see Joe Brial included in the EOYT squad. He is without doubt a very promising up and coming backrower, and no doubt will be in the conversation at RWC27. But, if both Cale and Wright were fit and in form, he would not make the tour at the expense of either one.

you think Joe writes the articles on rugby.com.au? Or just hands the squad he's picked to the media team to fashion the narrative?

The latter is EXACTLY what I've said in every post over the last two pages, but you don't seem to understand that the squad he picks and hands over to said media team includes a list of players under three headlines - "Forwards," "Backs" and "Unavailable for selection due to injury," which has been the process since he was put in charge, and has addressed in prior media conferences....

I am sure you see the irony in using the emoji of someone covering their own eyes....

Yes, I sure do.

Well, I wasn't entirely accurate... because in his first squad announcement this year there was...

A FOURTH GROUP.

Wider training squad members while select players above remain in Perth

I'm not sure if it was just list of players randomly selected by some kid in the mail room, or if it was in fact a wider training squad that did indeed train with the Wallabies while a select group of Force players were preparing for their game in Perth.

It’s a bit petty to suggest that Cale is somehow ahead of every other candidate just because his name appears on an injury list.

God help me, but the Brumby bias is being skewed by Red glasses here (I'm still wearing mine). But yes that is exactly what it means!

Now otoh

I'm not at all sure of this. (It's kind of good that we seem to be building some depth, whether any of them can live up t, say, Skelton, we will have to see.)
