Rugby Championship 2025: Wallabies v Argentina

I like the idea of resting Nic, but if so Lonergan should start as closest to like-for-like with Nic, and Tate continues to close out the game from the bench.

I would also prefer JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor) to start with Edmed on the bench for this next test.

Kellaway to 15 would be best interim solution but not necessarily the long term answer while Wright is out. I wouldn't mind Potter being trialled there if he has most of the required skills. Anyone know if he can kick effectively in general play? Could he be taught in quick time? From his play on the wing it looks like he is as good as any others in the air and has reasonable defence and good pace. Would it be so silly? JAS could stay at 13, Kellaway on the bench as versatile replacement and wing remains well covered with Jorgo, Toole and Pietsch when available again.
Yes a few options to look at it
One option is without moving to many is kellaway starts at 15 and maybe daugunu or potter to bench but potentially a short term option

otherwise jorgo to 15 with kellaway, daugunu or potter on the right wing

or Sua'ali'i at 15 and see how he goes and if he gets more room to move and daugunu or Paisami coming into the centre with ikatau

If Potter is back, then I think the time is right for Jorgensen to have a crack at 15. With his tackle busts, passing and playmaking, he's the best like-for-like replacement for Wright. Potter's size makes him a good foil for Toole as well. That's our best balanced back three.

Bloody hell will we miss Wright no matter what. I think 15 is best spot for Kellaway, suits him more than the wing. Suali’i at 15 is an interesting one I haven’t really thought about it, for me, I want someone with a bit more defensive strength so again i’m putting 15 on Kellaway’s back.

Ross for Slipper is the only one that stands out on who I would have in the squad. Given James's age and has had a few HIAs in his log career, I'd have preferred Slips given a longer break.
Slipper was in great form during the Lions series. He's old and who knows whether he'll still be an option in 2 years, particularly given that he looked over the hill just 12 months ago. Itd be crazy not to play him while he's in this kind of form. I wouldnt hate putting him on the bench but schidt seems to like bell coming off the bench.

Ross looks a good prospect but schidt clearly wants him to earn his jersey which i dont mind

One thing I'm sure of is that JAS does not have a suitable kicking game to play 15.

That is the biggest concern. Test sides are smart enough to put him in isolated positions where he only has a kick option or a very dumb run option. If he takes the kick option it's likely a big net gain for the opposition. Wright gets us out of our seats when he runs but he also has a huge boot on him. JAS will improve in that regard but I'd rather let him continue to grow in the Centres.

With a guy like Petaia back in Rugby I find it less attractive to have JAS as an option regardless of what the Tahs do with him.

I like the idea of Jorgensen at 15, he has been outstanding and deserves the shot and has openly said he wants to play there. Let's give the kid a crack. We have plenty of good wing options
I reckon you could probably trial him EOYT. I'm in favour of keeping things as much the same as possible while contending for the Bledisloe and RC though.

Agree however Tom wright also didn’t kick often but does have a great boot
More looking at options to give Sua'ali'i more freedom as centre he is nearly non existent and doesn’t have the best passing game
Unless jorgo goes to 15 and Sua'ali'i on a wing as well

I think petaia will be our best back going forward
Just need him to stay in the field and find a position to stick too
Even if it’s a wing

Potter has definitely played at fullback before.

Man, this has been trotted out since he came on the scene at 19... And he has still not ever been our best back, and he's 25.

I like him, but at the moment, he's a winger and a potential fullback/outside centre backup. Plus just went to the NFL, where you guessed it, he was still injured.

In our back line currently, Wright, Ikitau, and Jorgenson are better and have done more. JAS is new, but not nearly as broken.

I imagine it's been mentioned somewhere on this board that Petaia has signed a short term 9 month deal with French club Perpignan.

Really? You don’t stay broken forever
Tom wright finally became good at 26 he is now 28
Petaia still has plenty of time
He had over 30 tests at around 22
