Rugby Championship 2025 : Wallabies v Argentina Rnd 2

It sounds like there's pretty significant worry about that cut for Ikitau - he's been travelling in a knee brace just to minimize movement and give it a chance to heal. Makes sense to take the extra week so he's right for Bledisloe 1. If we didn't rest him we'd probably need Paisami on the bench anyway to cover the risk of a blood sub early in the game.

It definitely seems like the descriptions for both Lynagh and Ikitau should be that they are out injured instead of rested.

If it was the Rugby World Cup final, sure Ikitau would be playing but it isn't and a deep cut near a joint isn't something to be screwing around with.

Lynagh seems very much about the hamstring than any concern about his passed HIA. Of course there should be concern around the number of concussions he has had etc. but that doesn't seem relevant for this weekend.

I don't hate it tbh. Edmed was strong off the bench against SA and it allows us to keep O'Connor in the backpocket for the late game when we will most likely need a calm experienced head directing the show. Salakai-Loto deserves a run and it allows either Frost or Williams to get a spell before the Bledisloe. Paisami concerns me a bit but at this stage I trust Schmidt and Co's selections completely so if they believe he'll go well then I'm all in.

what does the cryptic ‘1 more time’ message from JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor) mean?
White retiring again? Slipper retiring? JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor) won’t stay for rest of TRC? Nothing?

Turns out that it is JOC (James O'Connor)'s last match for us this Saturday, he will head to Leicester after this. The Roar is reporting Schmidt will wave goodbye to him now that Donaldson is back

"The Roar understands that James O’Connor won’t be called upon to fly the flag for Australia on the Shaky Isles either, unless there’s another injury crisis or sudden change of heart. Instead, the 35-year-old is set to be in England after being signed by new Leicester Tigers coach Geoff Parling as Handre Pollard’s replacement."

"The Roar understands O’Connor was keen to stay with the Wallabies after returning to the international fold following a three-year Test hiatus, but with Ben Donaldson returning to national camp this week, it’s believed Schmidt will wave goodbye to the veteran flyhalf and back in the next generation of playmakers instead."

Elsewhere, it’s understood Hunter Paisami will be handed his first crack of the year with Len Ikitau set to have a spell following a heavy workload over the past few months. It will also allow Ikitau’s deep cut to potentially heal after repeatedly re-opening his stitches since suffering the injury against the Springboks in Johannesburg.
I hope AAA has a chat to him about how it looks tough to bleed from the same injury for 60 Tests in a row, I guess that is the difference between a piggy and a princess?
