Must admit, I'm surprised to hear that.Headgear doesn't offer any protection against concussion.

It is true. American Football players wear huge helmets and other protective gear, they have much higher rates of brain damage. I assume the shock of the collision is transmitted through protective gear.Must admit, I'm surprised to hear that.
Yep I remember way back late 80s, early 90s NZR were talking of banning headgear, because they worried players got a false sense of security wearing the, and would perhaps not be carefulHeadgear doesn't offer any protection against concussion.
Yep - acceleration / deceleration of the brain inside a rigid box is the problem.Headgear helps for cuts and abrasians (eg ears) but there is lots of evidence that is actually has a negative impact on concussion safety.
They don't stop the brain sloshing around inside your skull and players wearing them seem to be willing to stick their head into worse places.
someone needs to develop internal headgearYep - acceleration / deceleration of the brain inside a rigid box is the problem.
Because I don't think Tommy Turbo is the future at 10 like Queenslanders? I'm not Robinson Crusoe. Are you the Guru of rugby knowledge?
Boys need a big rest. Hopefully Joe says go home to your families, have the week off and they come together next weekend to start the NZ leg.
ears ?NFL players wear helmets but it doesn't seem to offer much protection wrt concussion & eventual CTE. More protection against cuts & abrasions I would think.
Edit: snap @Wilson.
It’s a tough one because the more phases at that stage of the game, theoretically the more chance we also make an error with fatigued bodies and minds. In the final moments of the game last night we should've kept it tight and tried to just rumble up to at least the half way line, as theoretically a penalty at that point could've won us the game.
Not sure why we tried to go coast to coast when we were consistently on the back foot -- we hadn't earned the right to go wide at that stage, and it seemed desperate/low confidence.
