Wallabies v England November 1

Hogan

Ted Fahey (11)
Christy suggesting:

3. Ala'alatoa
4. Frost
5. Salakaia-Loto
7. McReight
10. Edmed
11. Potter
13. Sua'ali'i
14. Jorgensen
15. Kellaway

18. Tupou
22. Stewart
23. Daugunu

I assume Wilson and Valetini will both start but they're not mentioned in the article.
Geez Edmed is having a dream run after offering very little to date. He really stifles our attack and is too error prone. And a real concern if Stewart is the back up 10. Could get ugly. Hopefully the forwards get the job done.

RR very close to my predicted team. I'd change the Locks around and have 4, Frost and 5, Swain starting with Williams on the bench.

I'd have Swain too but just know Joe won't pick him until he's trained for at least a week. Anyway, as above, it seems like LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) will be fine.

I don’t really have an issue with the LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) selection. Just commenting on. How Schmidt really is very committed to his selection criteria. Absolute shame if Gordon doesn’t get up.
Very surprised if Gordon ain't on the bench, subject to injury of course.

Gordon supposedly got injured last Thursday. Not calling any 10 cover into the squad is pretty silly. Hamish Stewart is not as test standard 10, he’ll he’s not even a 10 at super level

- Carter Gordon out this weekend, Stewart at 22
- Frost and LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) to start
- McReight, JAS, Tupou and AA return
- Back three of Potter, Jorgensen and Kellaway at FB - Daungunu at 23

Squad announced tomorrow night

Which test standard 10 do you have ready to come in?
Whatever you think of Donaldson he’s generations better than Hamish Stewart at 10. Feels like he has a personal issue rather than a purely tactical one considering he was good enough to be in the 23 for all 3 Lions tests

Outside of that any 10 in Australia. When is the last time Stewart started at 10 at any level?

Stewart is not starting at 10.
Donaldson isn’t generations better than Stewart.
It’s not personal, he wants Donno to improve defensively.
I don’t have a huge problem with this selection based off who’s available.

Edmed could do a hammy in the warm up or get hurt early and then he is the starting 10

Good to know Tane Edmed has nothing to work on

Couple of games against a couple of kiwi super rugby teams in 2023.

He's played 10% of his pro games at 10, but mostly in 2018

You said this last week.
Such a dumb hypothetical. Imagine if we select Edmed to start and Donno on the bench and they both do a hammy? What then?
For what it’s worth I think Edmed is extremely lucky to be in the team. But he’s obviously there. Between Ben, Tane and Stewart, there isn’t much in it tbh. No one is light years better than the other. I can see the reasoning. Stewart covers midfield and flyhalf. Daungunu covers wing and midfield. Few different players can shuffle to fullback if needed.

It’s not a dumb hypothetical, Because it’s realistic. Carter Gordon got injured at training last week, Donno got injured right before the 1st Springbok Test, Quade went down in the
Warm up before the English Series a few year back

As mentioned above, Stewart has Barely played any 10 in years and there is a reason for that. Tane may be the greatest example of failing upwards I’ve ever seen, but at least he plays the position

Hope like hell to be proven wrong
