Kellaway again as our goal kicker when Gordon x 2 come onto the ground? LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) partnered with Skelton leaves us extremely undermanned at lineout time. Frost to start with Skelton, and LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) off the bench, provided, of course, that LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) is fit to play.

You mean that Len hasn't received proper coaching in his time at the Brumbies? In a time where he is now acknowledged to be one of the world's premier No 13s? And in a time where we play him at 12 to accommodate a rather second rate Player still trying to learn how to play rugby?

If you're right KOB, then he will undoubtedly return as the best of the best.
Apologies for including the Brumbies in my general criticism of Australia’s professional player development program

One of Carter Gordon’s strengths is his deception with where he looks when he passes. He’s so good at offloading it short whilst looking long. Compare it Edmed who telegraphs everything and will never surprise a defensive line.

I’d be curious to see but I felt like we played off 10 so much more.

Post 2023, the issue in my opinion was that all the free to air coverage went, including the rugby shows. The result was not unexpected. I still maintain that if tiquiri's try was converted we would have won.

^^^ This is definitely the root of Australian Rugby's issues.

Schmidt: "the boys are a great group and have been working really hard, we're improving, stick with us, it's been a long year"

TBH it is sounding increasingly desperate.

I like Joe. I think he's been hamstrung like every other coach since Macqueen with a system that refused to evolve.

I'm not sure Kiss will fare any better, as our issues are down in the bedrock and would take a decade to correct even if we started 5 years ago.

It's clearly the game plan.

We went nowhere off the phase play on half way, and had 14 players on one side of the field - killing time for the yellow card.

With that setup there's no real option but to kick to their 22 otherwise it's a turnover on halfway

The problem as usual is Corey Toole is nowhere even close to competing for the ball, so they can get up and tap it back - then it's just a simple turnover in broken field, with no ruck to compete against
There's an interesting discussion between Jamie Roberts and Nigel Owens on Rugbypass dissecting the box kicks from both the Wallabies and England from last week's game. According to them, England set a ring of three or more players around the oppositions catcher and have one jumper contesting the catch. The point is that if the ball goes loose they have players readily available to gather the loose ball (sounds like Aussie Rules?) or even to force a turnover if the opposition catcher does take the ball. The Wallabies conversely have just one jumper and usually he is shorter/lighter than the English catcher with no-one actually ready to contest if the ball goes loose or if the English catcher nabs the catch.

Their explanation coincides with my impressions of the Wallabies' box kicking efforts. Really a lack of coaching smarts if true.

From my vantage point (a long way away) it seems that the reform has started. There seems to be improvement in our pathways system.

But, like you say, it is going to take a long time for us to see the benefits at the top level. And not only is no one else standing still but the assaults on our pipeline are growing.

2031 by the time these cohorts are entering their prime though. Going on history we have no idea what the environment or structures are going to be by then.

05-09 had a good group come through as well and they ended up with a WC final appearance which is a decade ago now.

I think you're right and that would only be improved if we partnered Lonergan with Carter in the halves combination. Fast and accurate service to the main playmaker could do wonders for our backline attack.

The hard part to take is the way up we were with the lions series and SA in SA
We know what this squad can produce
However since then they have not shown this and last few weeks really fell away
We beat Japan by 4 who let 70 in to the boks and 40 against a B Irish side
Don’t look interested and don’t seem to have an adequate game plan! They look like they turned up together yesterday
Also lacking game smarts - which has hurt us every game this year
Our backline wouldn’t scare a schoolboys backline we need bigger athletes - shame the nrl has about 100 x 6”3 105kg athletes

Sua'ali'i is playing his first season in international rugby and Super Rugby too. Daugunu also did more than Paisami who has been in the system for how many years??? Contributing nothing at international level
Yes but he didn’t show an adequate passing game in the nrl either
More saying I don’t think there is one
Can’t bellieve we are so thin in the centres
And a lack of size accross the backline

One man down to a YC, and even if it wasn't pretty, the idea should have been to retain possession which they had been doing effectively if not threateningly.
There isn't a coach in world rugby who would play like this. The cost of getting it wrong at halfway is way to massive.

Contested possession 25m out is fine, and the game plan of everyone. Our execution with Toole congestion is the issue

Gripping drama.

Wobs seemed lost.

42nd min Kellaway with a cringeworthy flop. "I've been shot! Sniper! Sniper!"

Not even the botched "ripped" try call could get Aussie home

Shame for Toole kills it still in super rugby but was allways going to have issues converting to the international stage
Certainly has not been helped by no gameplan and no ball from the players inside him
