Nah next in line should be JOC (James O'Connor)!, He's got a nice long pass too, dont see it much when he's playing fullback.

Hold your breath boys, surely Douglas hasnt been named because he'll be in the main squad for Saturday. Surely. There cant be any other reason. Surely?

Yep, it is just Rob Simmons turn to be blooded. Don't get your hopes up.

Mummsey had a shocker and browney doing nothing.

Deans will have Douglas locking, Mummsey flanking and Rocky Number-Eighting.

Would love to see that! Don't that it will happen tho.

On another note, I like the selection of Beale at 10. Regardless of whether his best position is 15 or not, it'd be good to see whether with his new found form he'd could be an adequate replacement for Quade.

Also I think from Dean's point of view its more just a case of selecting what he has got to use. Considering Giteau's injured and Quade and sookface played on the weekend he didn't much of an option.

Let's not get too excited about these Baas selections. There is no pretence of consistency; it's just looking at folks and waiting for socks to be blown off. Forget about Douglas and Simmons as being Wallaby locks until after the RWC unless there are injuries, or they monster themselves into consideration doing things they haven't done yet, but I trust they will down the track.

Same for Beale at 10. It looks a long stretch for his ever to be playing 10 for the Wallabies even from the bench, but put in the the same amount of injuries we have had in other positions and another in the match and it's ... you're on Kurtley. Not to the point but I think that 12 will be his best position long term. He doesn't have that extra step of pace to be an attacking fullback, nor the instincts or skill set to be a defensive one.

Tonight's game kicks off at 7:30pm, how 'bout we meet in the bistro at the Central Coast Leagues Club at 6:00pm for a feed and a drink before wandering across the street for the match? I'll be wearing my yellow scarf.

PS to my post above. The starting XV are leftovers from the healthy players left from the 40 man squad less the 22 from the test match. Beale is the only one that has been a regular flyhalf.

Don't know why Douglas isn't in the 22; he must have got a knock. He wasn't exactly stellar when he came on in the first game but he hardly had time to disgrace himself.

Deans did coach against Beale playing 10 very well in a S14 final, and that he is the last 10 standing

From a selfish point of view, I'm very happy to see Fainga'a and Chambers continue their combination at this level - look out next year in the Super 15 as these two will know each others game off by heart, and the Reds will benefit.

On Beale: I think his best position will be playing half-back or five-eighth for an NRL team one day.

It's difficult to get too excited, particularly with the brains trust making it clear they don't really give a stuff how it goes. And the selections are at least relatively consistent with their plan thus far.

I once again have a problem with "just looking at folks and waiting for socks to be blown off." If that's the case, I'm not sure why Douglas (a TH lock?) hasn't been given that chance, while some others get opportunity after opportunity. I'd be very happy for someone to monster their way into a lock bench spot, or even shifting Mumm to the flank, though.

I agree with you on their KB (Kurtley Beale) plan, but disagree regarding his long-term fullback prospects. Since regaining fitness he has also regained a few yards of pace, and he is beginning to develop the skill set to do the job in defence. But only time will tell!

Doubt I will be up in time for the feed but may make it for a beer. Just hope there is food in the box.

Where's Joe McCarthy when you need him...

England are desperate for a win, and after the draw, and with Beale at 10 and kicking I cant see the BaaBaas winning this one.

On my way in here about 45 minutes I got to the leagues club from the wrong side and found an open door near a bistro looking place so walked in.... on the England squad in their pre-game meeting. They looked pretty bored..

They must have just gone through their scintillating game plan. I hope you gave 'em a gobful.

Yup, because a full mid-year SH tour without a single win is the expectation. Why tinker with fate?

Go find a backup Pom front rower and poke him in the eye with a swizzle stick, Moses.
