i agree its great to see terrace finnally be competitive, and get birgan into the game playing him at his own position.
i beleive having so many grade 11s in the team is not the right move, sure they might come off as better players, but having "want" is crucial to theyre campaign, and do grade 11s want it as much as the grade 12s do? i dunno but this is their year group and theyre rugby age group, it would perhaps bring more unity and spirit to a team who so desperatley needs some

Very true, winning is a culture so blooding grade 11s in a losing 1st XV is perhaps not a good idea. Then again, the pressure and experience is invaluable so let's hope the kids don't get too down about being part of a weaker side. Playing Opens players also has it's advantages but I think regardless it comes down to the best man for the job, and the better players should be picked regardless, at least in hope to be competitive if not anything else.

Terrace should be proud of the result today, it was a match they were never going to win. In the circumstances to remain competitive shows that they are a fighting team and do have the ability, just lack the confidence and depth. Perhaps maybe all is not lost and the critics have jumped the gun too early, admittedly I was one of those.

Well done GT, you have shown you have the talent, now remain consistent.

TSS not only beat BGS, but flogged em, 38-9, or there abouts. Paraka at inside was amazing! The kicking game of Davies, was diffused well by the TSS back three, who counter attacked very well. I'd say within the forawrds it was rather even, but for the first time in 2011 the TSS backs played with confidence and produced some great tries.
Wouldn't be too surprised in paraka stays at 12.

sublime performance from TSS. BGS didnt get a sniff of the tryline. Davies (10) just kicked the ball away all day - fantastic, when he did run, he was smashed and knocked it on. paraka at 12 was an inspired move, distributed well. BGS lineout was outstanding, as was their kicker, 15. TSS won this with their pick n drive forward work, and finally the back line fired. TSS 11 n 14 had great games, and 9 controlled the game well. BGS 3 penalties in 1st half, and pointless in 2nd half. TSS 5 tries to zip. pretty dominant display. too late for a premiership, but satisfying nontheless to smash a rated side so well.

Terrace's season has been undoubtedly strong. They have managed to keep opponents below 70 points on 3 occasions out of 6, a remarkable achievement. I'm sure Grammar will be very nervous, perhaps even fearful of a Terrace team that lost by 70+ points to Ipswich..........

GT has taken 6 rounds to get the team right with players in the correct positions. Against Churchie who fielded their stongest team it was 7-3 to Churchie at half time. Good defence by the forwards who showed some agression, good kicking for field position by their 10 & a solid defensive display by their 15 who was also solid in kick returns kept GT in touch but easy turnovers & 2 lost tightheads let them down. Churchie was always going to win but their centers displayed poor ball handling. NC must be regretting not having their full team against Churchie in round 1. NC are by far and away the best team in the comp both in the forwards & backs & would be worthy premiers.

I know Khaele Bowen is the favourite and has a brilliant running game, but is it too far-fetched to suggest that BGS's #15 Sam Green could be selected for GPS 1. He has the best kicking game of anybody in the competition, constantly kicking 60+ meters, good short kicking game, 50m drop kicks and phenomenal goal kicking. He kicked a penalty in on the halfway line today and another from the sideline. This asset surely shouldn't be overlooked when selecting GPS1.

Crunch Time: Yes it’s that time again; let’s see how this week played out.
TSS 35 defeated BGS 9: Well this one was interesting as it was expected to be far closer then it was. Grammar has shown that there lack of firepower is hurting them, and that all they really have up their sleeve is a very good kicking game. All accounts say they seemed flat compared to the team that beat IGS and are really missing some of their key players who they lost through injury.
NC 38 Defeat TGS 12: Well TGS disappointing season continues with an expected loss to Nudgee. Nudgee obviously very classy and in my opinion the best team in the comp and I have been unimpressed with Churchie’s playing, but they are getting results. Nudgee had solid platform from set piece and their flashy backs did their bit, leading to a convincing win.
BBC 14 defeated by IGS 33: An expected result as IGS is a quality side. They seemed to fall away abit recently; I think the result against BGS took a big psychological Toll, as if you lose a game in GPS you have to be prepared to share the title. Then after losing their second game it looked like it might all fall apart. Today they looked to rectify their season, however they weren’t exactly playing quality opposition. They need to refocus and rectify their season, playing for respect and for the future of rugby at IGS.
ACGS 28 Defeated GT 10: All up a positive step for GT despite playing a weakened Churchie side. It will give them some confidence however leading into a game against out of form BGS next week, ready to give them a few headaches. This one went the way everyone expected but fell short of the predicted score line by 50 points.
Look forward to next week, big round (as per usual). UTB.

ACGS 28 - GT 10
Standouts for ACGS: 4 (Crow), 7(Mitchell) ,8 (Oppenheimer),14 (Ioane)
Standouts for GT: 2 (Mellor) ,7 (Birgin) ,8 (Ayala)

Pretty close game, GT definately lifted and have the best fan base i've seen in schoolboys rugby. Was close up until half time, unfortunately refs whistle was constant and often in GT's favour, certainly kept them in the match. I thought GT 8 was best on ground, seemed motivational and always in the ruck. Terrace got dominated at scrumtime, getting turned over once or twice. Line-outs seemed to go Terrace's way, turned over a few and GT #2 outplayed his opposition. Churchie #9 (Eason) started half a dozen fights, but had poor delivery to his number 10 on a few occasions and as a result made the 10 look substandard. Churchie backline was a level above GT but all in all a relatively close game.

I had a preconceived idea about GT and their determination was really quite impressive, I will be suprised if they don't win a game this season. Birgin at 7 was a star, went off for bloodbin but still was one of the better players on the field. Churchie #7 (Mitchell) and #6 (MacMillan) played strong but the standout of the forward pack for me was #8 Oppenheimer, very strong defender, knocked a few kids backwards and always seemed to be going forward with the ball. Also was the first one into the fights that Eason started, shows a bit of mongrel.

Overall, Churchie will be a little disappointed with the result, GT were ecstatic about scoring a try but the referee did keep them in the game for most of the match.

TSS d BGS, I hear... Where are you now fourgreatkids?

Great summary light! Spot on and couldn't agree more with what you've said. Firstly, It was good to see that Churchie fielded their best possible team for the full 70mins (barring their regular number 9 who was injured) and that Terrace really gave it to them for the whole game. Secondly, yes at half time and full time the Churchie coach gave them a spray and was quite vocal with the lads. And lastly I think you'll find that Ayala (no8) picked up that try for Terrace from the rolling maul which from all accounts has become a bit of a trademark of his over his two years of 1st XV.

bgs looked like a bunch of boys among men yesterday. tss "thumped" them. only thing they had all day was a kicking game that was torn apart by the counter attacking skills of the tss back three. paraka at twelve was good! better then most tss have come across this year

NC worthy premiers? How about worthy 2nd place? They lost to Churchie and if not for the TSS no 9 dropping the ball when over the tryline would have 2 losses registered.
In contrast, Churchie will finish the season undefeated and may have some claim to "worthy" premiers.

Churchie undefeated? Wait 'till 4.30pm on 23 July at Fursden Road. By contrast NC run in is BGS & BBC.

Churchie are a good team, and if they win it, we can do nothing but say well done. But having seen some of their games they are not anything special, in my opinion TSS and Nudgee are both better teams, desite TSS being out of contention and Nudgee banking on an unlikely loss for Churchie. There game against grammar was unconvincing, and grammar looked like the better team for much of the game and for the rest you sensed that they were the better team but couldn't find a rythem.TSS looked like a far better team then BGS, it really wasn't a contest after the first 20. on the other hand, I saw TSS and nudgee play and thought they looked like fantastic teams, something i didn't think upon watching Churchie play. Anyone who wins GPS deservs it, but i don't know if they are the best team.

for anyone wondering BSHS got up over Downlands 50-24, with State High fielding a full strength team with the exception of injuries, Curtis and Chris

no point crying over spilt milk, but TSS had 2 very contentious tries disallowed against nudgee. forwards grounded one, ruled as held up, and 9s was ruled knocked on by swinging arm tackle, viewers at both ends saw balls fairly grounded. thems the breaks. BSHS will give a very good churchie side a dusting shortly i feel, altho I would love to see churchie go thru unbeaten, it would be great for a great school, and one of the fringe powerhouse schools to deliver once more. I think consensus is for NC to pip them at the post when they trip up against state.
