All the best to Penriff

Can i suggest a tougher mascot than the Emu. I think that's where it all falls down. Maybe the puma in lieu of the panther? Neither are prevalent in the area.

Thanks Rugby Central, there's a lot of hard work that goes into getting those results. Campbelltown Stadium was explored, however, the cleaning costs alone was enough to make a treasurer's date pucker. While the boys will appreciate you're thoughts, we're probably a while off promotion yet.

Campbelltown showground would be fine with a little more work to the stands and more importantly the pitch. In my opinion promotion if it were to ever occur would require significant investment in establishing local schools competitions as a direct feeder for any such ambition. Set Campbelltown up as a junior representative structure initially and over time elevate. Would definitely need NSWRU/SRU backing though, and the question is, does the will exist?

That is the number one question WCR, does the will exist. And while NSW Rugby are fumbling around trying to preserve the past, AFL is moving in. My daughter is in year 1 and already she's brought home two Aus Kick (AFL) flyers and one NRL flyer, she's had lower grade tigers players come out to do PE with the kids. There has not been one flyer, note or scrap piece of paper from the NSW Rugby.

To know what's going on with the massive developments in junior rugby in the Penrith Zone / western sydney then google Penrith Junior Rugby Union or go to www.nswccc.rugbynet.com.au (yes that's an old ccc site but the aru have now given it to the PDJRU we are just waiting for them to change the url) and check out the news sections & resource folder. You will find in there:
  • SEASON CALENDARS
  • DISTRICT COMMITTEE
  • DISTRICT STRATEGIC PLAN WITH KPI'S
  • DISTRICT ACTION CALENDAR
  • REP SELECTION POLICY AND PROCESS DOCUMENTS
  • Details of MINIS COMPETITIONS being run in March in the District
  • 2012 DISRICT SPONSORSHIP PACKAGES
  • Info on the DISTRICT CHARITY - RONALD Mc DONALD HOUSE
  • District FUNDRAISING Programme 2012
Gentlemen there has been a huge amount of thought go into examining the future of rugby in Penrith / Hawkesbury & the Blue Mountains regions in preparation for 2012 and beyond. As the old saying goes "The past is a different country"

[*]DISTRICT STRATEGIC PLAN WITH KPI'S
chumbawumba the Strategic plan is encouraging. Most of the the KPIs are measurable which assists in actually evaluating the plan. Best of luck!

One minor comment regarding a typo. Strategic is spelt Startegic in the tables in the document.

I'm pretty sure a lot of that stuff is a direct copy of some NSW CCC and NSW Schools documents that were in circulation a little while back.......

Regardless of that, hopefully the author of the documentation for the 'Riff, is also able to ensure they deliver what they promise. We are all hoping they do.

Unfortunately though, past 'attempts' do not fill us with confidence.

chumba, good luck. Hope you pull it off.

Fibro-I'll have a look at the 50 good men sponsorship deal. Seems like you should be able to attract a truckloads of sponsors in this category.

Despite the Club Championship looking bleak for us at the moment - all is extremely positive at Penrith. I believe this year we have the depth to get several teams in the semi-finals. My tip is first grade, first and second grade colts as well as third and or fourth grade making the semis. I believe the new competition structure will assist us - along with the work that has been put in by the board during the off season to put into place strategies to attract and keep good players. I believe there will be plenty of long bus trips a way from Nepean Rugby Park for several clubs this season. I will even go further and say that our 1st Grade Colts are top 4 contenders. A lot of the boys played together as juniors and were successful under former Tongan international Ben Tuipulotu. Ben came aboard earlier this year and once the word got out that he was coaching - our numbers swelled with many boys 'coming home' (most from other Shute Shield clubs) to once again play under Ben's guidance. The vibe at Penrith for many reason is fantastic.

here's hoping they reach those lofty heights you mention. I think you are incorrect that Ben Tuipulotu played for Tonga. His brother did. But Ben was too busy playing whilst suspended! Players returning 'home'............interesting analogy.

As much as I respect your enthusiasm, I don't understand how you could conjure up a statement like that after your first two rounds were a 78-5 blowout and 26 point deficit in round 2. Both, might I add, to teams that don't look like they will be as strong this year as future years. I also understand that the Emu colts played a trial against Manly only to have enough depth to field one team, against Manly 3rd Colts. Although I see a improvement in 1st grade, I think Penrith need to continue working on their depth in future years to have any possible chance of being top 4.

Thankyou for your replies. If we were allowed to bet within the code I certainly would like to get some of the no doubt 100-1 we are currently rated at in 1st Grade Colts. You are certainly right Rugbyfan, our first game against Easts was appalling - I don't think that anyone could have been more disappointed than the boys themselves - what you don't discuss is that we put 30 odd points on Eastwood in the second half of last week's game - if it was a point each for who won each half we would have ended up 1-1. However that's not the game. It is interesting that you also don't mention our 2 Grade Colts trial against West Harbour . In 1st Grade West Harbour scored a try in the first and last five minutes of the game with the final score being 10-0. This was only our second run together as a team - I understand the West Harbour team had several Australian school boys playing and West Harbour had already had several solid trials - or did we also play their 3rd Grade squad. At the end of the day - it doesn't matter what we say - it all happens on the field - good luck tomorrow.

Thanks Old Two Blues it's nice to know you're in our corner - PS we have withdrawn the ridiculous situation where visitors have to pay for parking - see you tomorrow.

Why? You should charge. Its money for jam. I'd charge at Granville if the council would let me. You have a great set up to charge for parking because the driveway is so long before the gate, so people have to drive in. At granville, if we charged to park in the car park, people would just reverse out and park on the street.

Thanks Ole Two Blues for a good day on Saturday - all games were played in good spirit. Your first grade look very impressive this year. Not taking anything away from them - I was extremely disappointed with the performance of our first grade - there are are a few in that squad who really need to reconsider their approach and attitude to game preparation - particularly with some impressive performances from some of our second grade players. Otherwise a most enjoyable day. Here's to rugby in the west - the future of premier rugby in Sydney.

I have been advised that history was made on Saturday at Nepean Rugby Park when our 1st Grade Colts won. I am prepared to stand corrected however I believe never before in the history of the Club has a 1st Grade Colts squad won a game. I'm not sure whether to feel elated or sad that it took this Club some 17 years to win a match in this grade. Now that the milestone has been passed I believe that the team will continue to be successful. Watch this space - there are some very talented players in this squad.

Can you two blokes pass on your sentiments to the parking SS officers at Forshaw, parking for grade/colts matches? Ridiculous.
