well you can't say thats a lot. 5-6 players. they can hardly be blamed for being successful for their bringing in. if anything they should be applauded for rather than bringing in 15 players, they have bought in a few, and as such the rest of the team has seemed to improve.

i think your being a bit hard, to say that grammar is just winning cause of importing, because lets be honest, their isn't a school in the competition that does not bring in players. and having imported players does not lead to guranteed sucess. take the point of churchie. Numerous players on scholarship, but little to show for it. coaching, players etc all has to be taken into consideration if you could point out the scholarshipped players that you can be certain of at grammar, that would be great. I would like to find out, how many have been their since yr 8 and compare that to other schools.

I actually watched the ACGS v BBC match today which was very sloppy but was not assisted by the quality of refereeing. The match went about 10 minutes overtime allowing both teams to exchange leads before BBC's 15 Josh Bowery(?) slotted a difficult 3 pointer from the sideline, about 45 out to draw the game. Fakaosilea was very intimidating in defence but was handled well by ACGS's inside backs in attack. Exciting score board, not a very skilful game.

i really believe that Ian Jones and his coaching abilities need to be looked at here. there really is no excuses now.

Very exciting game at Ross this afternoon with the Southport boys getting a win. From the outset they looked like a team that really wanted to send a threat to the rest of the competition after a loss to Ippy. TSS pack strengthened significantly by Guttenbiel, slotting into the second row, but Nudgee didn't have their best player.

Next week has some scintillating match-ups with TSS taking on Churchie, as well as Grammar versing Ipswich at the top of the ladder.

Completely agreed. For a team of this calibre (on paper) to go 0-1-2 in the first three rounds is unheard of.

BBC v Churchie went obscenely overtime, I think the ref surely screwed something up with his watch. The game began at 2.15 and didn't finish to 4.55... Even with half time and a few injuries I still think it ran 15 minutes longer than it should've.

BBC should have won Churchie scored twice in those last 10 minutes with a drop + penalty and a try before that. Lop sided penalty count too had the Misking faithful up in arms for the latter part of the second half.

Bowen saved grace with a last minute penalty from 47 and with a huge angle. Amazing kick that I thought he would never get, went over like Jonny Wilkinson used to put them too.

Scrappy game but enthralling. There was a girl seated near me whom was from a massive Churchie family and wouldn't shutup about how shite bbc rugby is. Didn't hear from her after the final whistle.
Standouts

Here's my match report:

Game begins with a good crowd in from sides, college has responded to last weeks win against state high with a strong turn out in support. Churchie are the first to score after continuous pressure on BBC. The college was strong in forward collisions in response and after securing a penalty they boot it a few meters inside Churchie's 22. From the lineout a very organised drive results in a try and yellow card to Churchie #2 for obstructing the maul on the way in. BBC had the better with a couple of penalties and seemed to be going into halftime with a 16 - 8 lead only for Churchie to pressure hard and steal the ball, make their way into the 22 and score with a simple quick pass to the winger via halfback. Conversion unsuccessful score 16 - 13, teams go into half time.

Second half gets underway and there is no score for some time. BBC eventually get a lineout just on Churchies side of halfway. In a 'Saia Fainga' sneaky they work the ball to the 1, back to 2 who sets off down and puts mikey diaring 9 away for a try in the corner. score 21 13. BBC add a penalty, 24 13.

At this point in the game I was starting to think if they held them out for much longer it would be the ball game. It was 20 past 3 by my watch. 10 minutes later at half past I was thinking the same thing. And then five minutes later Churchie scored a try. Then a drop goal, then a penalty that had them thinking they'd won it. another five minutes and BBC had a penalty to tie it.

How on Earth full time was not called anytime between when BBC where up by 11, up by 6, up by 3, tied, behind by 3 is really really weird. Perhaps the ref realized he'd let the game run over already and Churchie had scored during that and let BBC have even more time to return the favour?

Toowoomba vs Terrace was an exciting game of footy. Leads changed all through the game, Terrace was at the front until a try from 15 Placid got the win for TGS. GT would've led for the majority of the game, after crawling back from an early two try deficit (TGS scored off the kickoff), but seemed to fall apart a bit under pressure at the end of the game. Full strength backline, but the forwards were missing hard running lock Laxon and bustling 8 Sitanilei, who could've busted the game right open. Good result for GT, who would've thought robbed by a few decisions towards the end (a blatant high shot on 12 Larosa going unpunished would have to be one). Mostly well done to both teams for a great game of footy.

One thing is for sure - this years terrace team won't lie down limply like last year. Look for them to pick up their first win against BBC this weekend, then give Nudgee a good shot in the rivalry to end all rivalries in two weeks time.

TSS up over NC 31-19. Jack Tuttle did not play

Both 12.Jack Tuttle and 15.Richard Aitsi unavailable due to injury.
A great game, 11.Brock Anderson and 14.Isaac Nathan ran rings around the NC backs.
Nudgee are vulnerable without their captain Tuttle.
TSS were the better team and deserved to win.
Premiership is up for grabs.
BGS are now favourites, barring injuries
I'm scratching my head... how did IGS beat TSS in Rnd1
Nudgee old boy Elton Flatley was at the game.

Disagree - I think you're underestimating the threats that are posed to BGS through Ipswich, Nudgee (Ross), TSS and Churchie. It is a tough run to the end of the season for them, having already gone past State High and their bye. Reports of an injury to their impressive 7 and prop, as well as Radford. In short, I think their depth will be severely tested towards the end, and some of the players previously mentioned are irreplaceable. Good luck to them though, interesting to see how they handle this 'favourites' tag. Churchie struggled and Nudgee lost it pretty quickly.

To clarify, I think Nudgee will take it out with a 7-1 record, although my predictions in the past have been nothing short of woeful.

If BGS were to win the premiership, they'd still have to beat TSS and NC. Calling them favourites might be a far stretch, but this weekend's result does increase their chances.

And yes, it was great to see the distribution of the TSS backs improve significantly, particularly for Fielea to get it out to the wings.

Was a great day of footy up the range. I definitely wasn't the only one who got deja vu when a TGS winger went over the line right off the kickoff. I thought it was going to be last years GT team all over again. GT managed to pull back with some good trys from Mellor and Jenkins. But in the end when leading by 2, the outside centre made a break and as Heenan was tackling him over the sideline got a freakish flick pass away to his pairing centre to go over for an easy try. Players of the day: TGS #13 Dont know his name but he was pretty good. TGS #15 Placid, looked dangerous every time he touched the ball. GT #7 Toby McNamee was the pilfer king of the day stealing a dozen balls from TGS boys. Will be a great game against BBC next week. No injuries to GT on the day and the return of #8 Daniel Sitaleni will be good for a win over the boys from Toowong next Saturday afternoon.

The atmosphere at Northgate is woeful. Fans are atleast 20-30m from the sideline of the field, with a fence or two in the way, completely destroying any chance of an atmosphere. Thats what happens when you design a rugby field to be a cricket pitch

yeah but they make the best steak burgers than any other school I reckon.
