I watched this game with a Maori bloke and a Durban bloke (neither of whom I'd ever met) in an Irish pub in Chiang Mai, Thailand and I'm now posting about it on an Australian rugby supporters site.

Anyone who says that rugby isn't truly global can eat a bag of dicks.

Congratulations chiefs on a great display of running rugby and a deserved win, commiserations sharks on a hard fought season and brutal travel schedule.

This is a Rugby Supporters Site first, and Australian Rugby Supporters site second.

We embrace balanced and rational comment from the anywhere in Heavensgames domain, whether that be the Land of Darkness, Saffers, Spud Bashers, Soap Dodgers, Convicts, Leek Eaters or Thistles.

Fond memories of Chang Mai and elephant trekking.

Recorded this and had to turn off all phones until I could sit down and watch it.

Well done Chiefs! I don't agree with some comments that the travel hurt the Sharks. The Chiefs would have won if there was a week's break.

Last year the Crusaders never had a home game at their base in Christchurch and even travelled to London and back, yet they made the final and almost won it.

Thanks for reminding me of the Saders awesome effort :D In all seriousness though I think the earthquake disaster galvanised the boys & that is how they lifted like they did to some degree. I don't like using travel as an excuse either but it is hard not to think you'd be knocked around by that much flying. On reflection I agree the Chiefs probably would have still won even after a weeks break but maybe it would have been a bit tighter contest.

Keegan Daniel has been very dignified in defeat in the post match interview.

Any Saffer here want to comment on where he sits regarding Bokke selection/captaincy?

I'll have a go.

Daniel is a great player but his problem is his lack of specialisation.

He is probably the most versatile loosie in bok contention but his problem in SA will always be his apparent lack of size. I say apparent because he punches above his weight. We have a Bulls coach who likes big men.

So if we forget about balance in the back row, let's take a look at who he has to upstage:

8. Spies, Kankowski, Vermeulen
7. (SA blindside) Alberts, Potgieter, Burger
6. (Openside) Coetzee, Burger, Brussow, Kolisi

I think we will see a back row of Kanko, Alberts and Coetzee starting in the RC.

H Meyer likes Kanko and he is in career best form. Vermeulen on form will be hard to ignore.

Problematic. But a good problem.

I would like to see him on the bench. I think he will see some test time thus year but maybe only on the EOYT.

JdV has been confirmed as RC captain and if he stays fit he will captain end of year with Burger probably the next option.

Chiefs very deserved winners today. The Shorks just looked knackered by the end of it and didn't really get their game going at any stage. Their pack was especially disappointing I thought. The Chiefs were great in the loose and spread the ball very well when the opportunity arose. Their defence was also first class.

Tameifuna's one was probably worse. 1-2 weeks each probably

Chiefs Super Rugby winning prop Ben Tameifuna has been cited for a dangerous tackle in his team's Super Rugby Grand final victory over the Sharks in Hamilton.
Tameifuna has been cited for alleged foul play early in the second half of the Super Rugby final match on Saturday
Tameifuna is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (e) Dangerous Tackling, when he tackled Ryan Kankowski of the Sharks, making contact with him above the line of the shoulders.
The incident occurred in the 47th minute of the match between the Chiefs and Sharks at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton on Saturday 4th August 2012.
Upon further review of the match footage the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the Red Card threshold for foul play.

Sharks forwards will swallow the Chiefs and they will pressure them into mistakes. Thats the recepy for any final. Forget about travel and away match for them. They are travel and away fit and wont bodder them one bit. Not even cowbells will stop them Sharks in the final.

Haha! Well mate...as I suggested, the Mooloo defence totally rattled your vaunted Sharks forwards, and it was a complete shellacking.

But condolences to the Sharks -- you were brave for the first 15 minutes, but ran out of puff in the end. Fantastic effort by The Chiefs...Cruden, SBW and just about the whole pack had awesome games and really stood up and finish off what was a great year. Best team all year and deserved winners!

With the Super title back on NZ soil, bring on the Rugby Championship!

Argh, please don't call the Chiefs the Mooloos. The Mooloos are Waikato, and Waikato alone. The Chiefs are the Chiefs, and they deserve their own nickname.

And I love them both - Waikato more.

Well done Chiefs but bloody hell, how predictable, can't help but think the scoreline would be much closer if played in week's time. Come on SANZAR - make it fair.

The Chiefs don't deserve it after winning their Conference and finishing 2nd overall ae Qwerty.

I decided to go for the Chiefs, as my NZ team, at the beginning of the season. I did so as all my in-laws are Chiefs fans and I'd like to have something in common with them Rugby wise. So what happens? My 'team' makes the final! I went to a local pub where about 20 kiwi friends drink and I was whooping and hollering and cheering like a maniac everytime the Chiefs scored. That was a lot of cheering! I have to say, I really enjoyed barracking for the team that was getting all the refereeing. It was a novel experience, one that has never happened to me before. When Tameifuna flattened the Sharks player with that wonderful head high and there was no reaction from the officials I thought " gee, no wonder kiwis love watching rugby so much!".

I mean, there can be no question of bias as Steve Walsh is an Aussie ref isn't he? Isn't he?

Go Chiefs!

Gwerty, I understand where you coming from, but if these teams had week off do you not think it would give wallabies huge advantage in RC games as AB and Boks would only be able to get together a week before first test........
oh I understand ;)
