Is anybody aware of any players from the local comp that are being considered for professional contracts in 2013? Has Tom Cusack from Royals been approached by anybody?

Which try? The Wests one from Kimlin? Just a bit of firing up I think.

There's a good punch up in the 2nd grade final between Queanbeyan and Wests

The draw in 2nds was pretty average - I don't think a single person on the field or off it was thinking they wouldn't play extra time. I've never seen a more muted end to a grand final.

Only minutes before the end, I read through the match program and on the last page it had what happens in the event of a draw and it spelt it out pretty clearly.

It seems the teams nor their own officials did the same.

I don't think the main ref knew either to be honest - he was told by the touch judge the game was a draw.

Irrespective, I think that's a rule that should be changed.

Check the websites of the clubs and twitter feeds/facebook

Easts haven't updated anything for a while - I think these were awarded:
Best and fairest: Gus limaleba
Players player: Duncan Fallon

Interesting rumour made the rounds at the Vikings presentation night - apparently Easts and Royals are merging in some way next year... !

No idea how that could ever come to pass - I'd wager Royals guys would be just as confused.

2013 will be a year of new coaches with Easts, Tuggeranong and Queanbeyan all having new coaches.

Jeremy Osborne, former Easts fly-half and son of former coach John Osborne has been named as coach of Easts for 2013.

Its take Easts since 2008 to realise that this was always the path to go down to be successful....
Well done to Jezza. No doubt Jezza will call on a lot of the blokes who got them to 08 to assist in coaching, recruitment and back to where they should have been after 08.
Unfinished Business I say...
Is Owen Brown still with Easts or has he finally been moved on??

Certainly will be an interesting time for Easts - it'll be interesting to see how it plays out, and whether the club can be competitive across the grades.

Owen is still involved but is no longer president. Arch Vanderglas has taken up that role - Arch has been negotiating productively with the Brumbies, and hopefully there will be some interesting developments for Easts in 2013.

thats a good thing with Vanderglas in there, he has more of a feeling on the game than Owen Brown will ever have. Good for the club, lets hope Brown doesnt have too much input in what happens at club level.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that assertion, and neither would Arch Vanderglas - in his own words he mentioned that Owen effectively saved the club following the financial vandalism in the past. Other issues following that should be viewed with that in mind.

Mistakes were made, and have been discussed extensively. Time to move on.

Irrespective, Owen has stepped down from the board entirely and a few new faces have come on board.
