Five tries each to Easts and Parra as the Beasts ran out 40-31 victors. From a Two Blues perspective, we'd be regretting our lack of composure at key moments. Disappointing but not time to panic.

That's the thing, they've got just about their best side available atm. Cummins, Horne, Douglas are the only ones to come back but most likely they will be involved with the Wallabies.

Uni got quite a few to come back.

Very interesting season to date;
Uni is now playing their ussual rugby, after a tough start to the season going down to the Rats, and a couple of others.
2Blues beating some teams that were tipped to perform in 2013 then copping a hiding through the grades from the Beasties.
The Beaties loosing to some highly ranked teams by a point or so then getting trounced by Manly.
Norths looking strong through the grades and colts and then being beaten by Randwick through every grade.

Didn't get out to see Manly this week, over the first 6 games Penrith have averaged 8 points a game, but Manly let in 29 points yesterday??? A bonus point win but can't pass comment on the points leaked.

Uni, Eastwood, and Sths are setting the level at the moment.

Dave did you see the Manly Lineup in rugbynews yesterday. They only led 17 - 7 at halftime. Then I guess the as to be expected usual Emu's 2nd half collapse.

Nah Lily - had my daughters b'day so no rugby.
I saw the suggested line up on Friday, we struggled out west last year as well - our defence over recent weeks had been communicating and improving - strong for the majority of the games.
Letting Penrith score 29 points??? we'd need to keep the likes of Sths Uni, and the Woodies down to less than 2 or 3 tries to be in with a chance - however not being there I can't comment.

Didn't make it either but well placed spies both player and officials suggest more than a few players were tackle shy which for a Blake coached side is very surprising and will no doubt hurt the players at fitness on Tuesday . It does not seem that the Emus collapsed.There were explanations starting with a complete stuff up with the team bus that didn't arrive and a badly disrupted side - Marlins essentially had a second grade pack albeit surprisingly bolstered by Jordy Reid who flew up from Melbourne. We did score 8 tries and plenty of players to come back but the defensive effort is a real worry if as Dave B says the Marlins expect to match it with the big 3.... as they do. Norths will be an interesting next game indeed.

The 4th grade result was interesting - apparently the Emus were bolstered by a bye round in the local league comp . Shame they can't get the same level of interest when playing away

The Colts thread on which there is much weeping and wailing about shortened 3rd grade colts competition, raises speculation about who will be culled for season 2014 . Do we want to be diverted by it here or save it for later?

It will be fascinating to see who the Woodies get back.

Many players from the force I'd imagine;

1. Plotskis 2. Pearce 3. Longbottom (WA) 4. Wykes (WA) 5. Lees 6. Perret 7. Alcock (WA) 8. McCaffrey (WA) 9. Snowden (WA) 10. Hilgendorf 11. Batger 12. Godwin (WA) 13. McDougall 14. Mitchell 15. B Batger

High quality stuff a Forshaw yesterday I thought. The longer it went the more Uni looked like winning it though. They aimed up massively in defence in a way I've not often seen at club level.

Eastwood are looking very strong through the grades so far. If you take Colts out of the club championship they'd have a healthy lead over Manly, Randwick and then Uni in 4th.

Since Colts have their own club championship do you think the Gregor George Cup should be grade results only?

Eastwood were strong throughout the grades. Congrats to them for a strong program. Still plenty of work for the Highlanders (especially 4th grade) as we were brought crashing down after a strong performance against Souths.

Penrith actually looked like a reasonable team on the weekend. They defended well in patches and they looked more organised than I had seen them previously. It was 0-0 for about 20 mins. They are clearly a much better team at home. Their forwards got their running game going and that led to a few points off the back of some good go forward.
Manly were always in control although Penrith got back to down by 12 with 12 mins to go and Hooper had just gone to the bin for a tip tackle. Nonetheless Manly scored next and Penrith got a consolation try on the bell.
Manly were missing a lot of players (no Ale, Gower, Melrose, Aholelei, Leafa, Helu etc) which made it look like a combined 1st/2nd grade side to me.

I believe Colts sure definately contribute to the overall club championship standings, There have been some major developments and improvements at the wicks this year and one of the big ones has been to adopt a whole 'one' club mentality. There have been at least 6 colts who have been called up into 1st or second grade for a game.
