I don't know if this one has been posted in the thread previously but this one is pretty amazing.
Kings College student James Webster died of alcohol poisoning and this was the tribute from the rest of the school to his house group (as far as I know).

I still want to see the Soap Dodgers do a Morris Dance in response to the Haka. Resplendent with their Bells on their Calves and waving handkerchiefs in the air - wonderful. In fact throw in a May Pole with gaily coloured ribbons as well. You know you want to see that.

I just don't like the fact how we are supposed to stand there and take it. Id like the wallabies just to do some warm ups or kick a footy around amongst themselves while its happening to really take the sting out of it.

I agree. I don't like how one team is made to stand there with their bodies cooling off while one is allowed to get theatrical and get the blood flowing. The Wallabies should be allowed to do whatever they want, and to take it in on their own stadiums is a joke. Respect it in NZ but don't give a toss about it in Australia. That's your ground.

Kiwis correct me if i'm wrong, but there's more to a haka than intimidation of the person standing in front of you, right?
Respect, recognition and intimidation all part of the package. It's a great tradition and should be continued, it's on the opposition to find ways to turn it into something positive for themselves rather than just another psych-out for the darkness.

I actually agree with this - but we are damned if we do, damned if we don't now. It seems every single foreign journalist wants rid of it - and thats fair enough as per what Zander says. But the thing is, I've watched the All Blacks in Wales, France, England & Scotland. And every single time all the locals around me were very excited about seeing the haka - so it maybe that the journo's don't want it, but it seems the people do. You guys are all welcome to correct me from your own experiences, but thats mine.

Personally I am happy for the haka to be performed in all All Blacks tests. It is one of rugby's great spectacles.
I think the other team should just stand there and watch and wait for it to finish. Just consider it like a second anthem that you stand there silently and show respect to. I disagree that performing the haka is some great intimidatory tactic or advantage to the All Blacks. It could only ever become that if the opposition think about it too much and make it a problem in their own minds.
I also disagree that the opposition should continue warming up or wander around during the haka. That is just rude. If you wouldn't do it during the anthem, why would you do it during the haka?

Yep a haka, is more about a respect thing, it's not intimadation, or just a challenge, as shown in one of the videos it was done to show respect and oneness with a "house' from a college when one of their's died. Do I personally like it ? yep but I a kiwi, and it means a bit to me, but I wouldn't lose sleep if it wasn't done in Aus.
The last thing we probably need is another Haka-f***en kiwi thread, note it never about Samoan or Tongan one . Basically noone has to stand there and watch it,Southsider, thats a lot of crap, I not sure where anyone gets that idea from, but hey it looks good when you having a moan!! And look if it hurts anyone just write to ARU and ask them to have it stopped as it upsets your sensibilities, it is only done outside NZ at home nations request. Zander I don't know who told you that they have to be able to do it. And you could also add, hakas being done before test matches has been done longer than National Anthems and if you checked rules there is probably not one to say you have to even stand still for one of them!!
